(NationalSentinel) Experts and Department of Homeland Security officials have repeatedly told various Democrat-controlled House committees for months that loopholes in our asylum and immigration laws are serving as magnets for illegal immigration.
What’s more, Left-wing groups south of the border are encouraging migrants to crash the U.S. border and allow themselves to be ‘arrested’ and detained because the loopholes in our laws make it far more likely they will get to stay.
But these loophole magnets are also killing people, and POTUS Donald Trump on Thursday put the onus on Democrats to help him and the GOP change the laws and get rid of the loopholes so that fewer people will risk their lives trying to get to the U.S.
The president’s comments come after Óscar Alberto Martínez Ramírez, 25, and his daughter Valeria drowned in the Rio Grande in Matamoros, Mexico. Their bodies were found on the river bank on Monday. A photo of their bodies quickly went viral on social media.
Democrats, expectedly, quickly pounced on the president, blaming him and his enforcement policies for the tragedy — even going so far as to exploit it by holding a ‘moment of silence’ for the victims on the House floor.
But the president fired back, putting the blame squarely on the Donkey Party for its interest only in exploiting migrant deaths and suffering rather than fixing the laws that are causing them to risk their lives in the first place trying to get to the U.S.
“I hate it, and it could stop immediately if the Democrats change the laws,” the president said when asked about the tragedy on his way to the G-20 Summit in Osaka, Japan, Thursday.
“And that father who was probably a wonderful guy with his daughter, things like that wouldn’t happen,” he continued.
Later he tweeted: “The Democrats should change the Loopholes and Asylum Laws so lives will be saved at our Southern Border. They said it was not a crisis at the Border, that it was all just ‘manufactured.’ Now they admit that I was right - But they must do something about it. Fix the Laws NOW!”
Óscar Ramírez’s mother, Rosa Ramírez, told The Associated Press her son was attempting to bring his family across the border for economic reasons — which is not a valid asylum claim in the first place.
“If we had the right laws, that the Democrats are not letting us have, those people wouldn’t be coming up, they wouldn’t be trying,” Trump said of the incident. “The asylum policy of the Democrats is responsible.”
As 2020 Democratic presidential contenders indicated during two nights’ worth of debates, however, their party isn’t interested in anything but throwing open our borders to any and all comers, because they know, based on polling data, that most new immigrants support Democrats.
