Believe it or not, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just came up with a fantastic idea for presidential debates
Maybe the networks will get together and do this for the upcoming debates with Trump and the Dem nominee

(TNS) We never thought the day would come when we would find something to agree on with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, but it has arrived.
Following Wednesday’s Democratic presidential debate, the New York socialist said that the American people would be better served if such events where “themed” — that is, all about one topic (or a couple, realistically, since there are a number of issues that concern Americans).

MSN reported:
Ocasio-Cortez’ comment was in reply to a tweet by journalist Tanvi Misra calling for a debate solely about immigration with immigration reporters as moderators. The representative replied in agreement.
“Honestly, there should be themed debates. Doing so educates the public far more on issues & actually serves the purpose of distinguishing who knows what they’re talking about +who doesn’t. Climate debate. Foreign policy debate. Healthcare. Racial justice. Labor&Econ. Can’t hide,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote. “We can work out the logistics, but we could absolutely use far more opportunities for candidates to shine based on substance.”
This is a rational, cogent suggestion that has a lot of merit and should be seriously considered moving forward. No, that wasn’t sarcasm.
It’s not that candidates don’t currently discuss issues, per se, but a lot of what ‘debates’ are really have nothing to do with actual debating.
Candidates — Democrats and Republicans — make a lot of political statements about their positions on issues designed to win votes, but they seldom, if ever, are forced to actually flesh out their positions and explain them, then defend them from other candidates.
Having themed debates would allow time for discussion and actual debate on topics concerning Americans — immigration, certainly, but others as well.
Take Wednesday’s debate. At one point, Sen. Bernie Sanders and former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg got into a back-and-forth about economics — Sanders’ socialism versus capitalism that works. The two candidates merely traded barbs over the issue, they didn’t discuss it in any depth at all, despite the obvious hypocrisy of millionaire Sanders’ constant complaints about wealth.
A ‘themed’ debate over economics would force Sanders to not only explain his socialism but to defend it — with examples (which he couldn’t do because there are no successful examples of purely socialist countries).

Maybe the networks will get together and come up with some themes for the Trump-[fill in the blank] 2020 debates later this summer. The key will be to prevent the moderators from getting into debates with the candidates.

So it wasn’t actually her idea
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while…..
Sorry, but acknowledging (‘legitimizing’) and kissing the little idiot’s ass makes one also an idiot.
How about ‘ no debates at all ‘ ! f’yeh !
You can watch the FakeNewsDrama debate queen series horsesh*t all you want…not me.
The debates mean nothing to me. Action is what matters. I pray daily for God Almighty to crush these enemies of humanity.
Hell must be freezing over if AOC actually said something that makes sense.
LOL! According to the article the idea was from “journalist Tanvi Misra.” Not AOC. But stealing ideas (if there’s no money lying around) is what Communists do!
#1, you’re talking about Democrats who cares about 1 thing-Power and Control with public media manipulation of facts, reality truth, via propaganda, is all they have, as facts, reality truth on substance matters only hurts Democrats with their socialist fantasy delusions of Green New Deal garbage policy of anti-industrial fossil fuel economy, their govt socialized medicine medicare for all BS, which the American people got a taste of from their govt mandated Obamacare healthcare law and want nothing more to do with it.. let alone their deranged climate change junk science garbage. Pres trump and his support base of Patriotic… Read more »
This would be tragic for some in the debate. They will have to present what they actually know about the topic, explain what they think about it and why. Then tell us what you plan to do about it.
All this would much better educate whatever public hasn’t gone to sleep already.
Most people today do NOT have the attention span to maintain interest in a one topic debate.
Most are too uninformed or uninterested to pay attention. Those who are interested already know more than the participants.
She meant for the debates to be HelloKitty themed, so to draw in all of her fans.
IIRC, a debate was themed for the last election on ‘why or if Donald Trump called that Disgusting Fat Pig - Rosie O’donnell a Disgusting Fat Pig.
…and their last debate was Attack Bloomberg themed, if nothing else. Actually, it was nothing else…or anything that concerns voters.
Typical media drivel
