Bernie blasts Wisconsin: ‘People shouldn’t have to risk life to vote’ — you mean, like our founding fathers?

Shame on Sanders for using fear of coronavirus to delay the inevitable

By Tank Murdoch @TheNatSent

(TNS) Sen. Bernie Sanders is angry. Again.

Seems this time, the Little Commie Who Couldn’t is perturbed because those scoundrels in Wisconsin have decided to help end his now-futile attempt to win the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination sooner rather than later.

Yes, Wisconsin will — as of this writing — hold its state primaries on Tuesday on their regularly-scheduled date, coronavirus or no, and that’s just not acceptable to Bernie or his Bernie Bros, most of whom are slow to accept the fact that the candidate doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning the presidency. Ever.

As the Washington Examiner reported Friday:

Wisconsin is still set to hold its Tuesday primary despite outrage from public health officials and liberal groups that cite the spread of the coronavirus and the fact that 15 other states have delayed their elections.

“People should not be forced to put their lives on the line to vote, which is why 15 states are now following the advice of public health experts and delaying their elections,” Sanders wrote in a statement Wednesday. “We urge Wisconsin to join them. The state should delay Tuesday’s vote, extend early voting and work to move entirely to vote-by-mail.”

By now, readers should understand that the Marxist Left is pushing ‘early voting’ and ‘vote-by-mail’ as a means of stealing elections via “ballot harvesting” — which is how Democrats in California managed to flip a number of traditionally Republican seats in 2018. So that’s a non-starter; figure if Democrats are pushing it, we should oppose it.

However, it was this part of Bernie’s statement that really intrigued us: ‘Putting their lives on the line to vote.’

You mean, as our founding founders did? That is putting your life on the line to make your voice heard.

But we’ll play along with Bernie’s fearmongering.

What about elections held during flu season? The CDC estimates that between 24,000 – 63,000 have died from the flu this year; surely some Americans ‘risked their lives’ this year to vote, right?

How about death by automobile? The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that 36,560 people were killed in car crashes in 2018, an election year; how many ‘risked their lives’ to vote? Well, how about anyone who traveled to polling stations in a car?

Heart disease kills about 647,000 Americans annually, or about one-in-four people, the CDC reports. How many Americans with heart disease risked their lives to go vote during recent election cycles?

And on and on.

We can play this foolish game of semantics with ‘what if’ scenarios all day, every day. But the fact is, we don’t live in a risk-free world; we never have and likely never will.

So shame on Bernie for using fear of coronavirus in a wholly self-centered manner simply to delay the inevitable — his dropping out of the 2020 Democratic presidential race — and as a vehicle to subvert our electoral process so Democrats can cheat their way to power.
