(National Sentinel) Political intrigue: If you, like us, have never trusted a thing that former CIA Director John Brennan has said regarding the so-called “Trump-Russia collusion” narrative, your instincts were right.

As it turns out, Brennan - after spending a long career in government - turned out to be little more than a political stooge and hack for one of the most corrupt and constitutionally challenged presidents in modern history: Barack Obama.

As reported by the Washington Times, it was Brennan, who worked on Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign before being named CIA director, who pushed the FBI to begin its counterintelligence probe of Team Trump last summer, and based on the flimsiest of ‘evidence.’

The paper noted:

Mr. Brennan told the House Intelligence Committee on May 23 that the intelligence community was picking up tidbits on Trump associates making contacts with Russians. Mr. Brennan did not name either the Russians or the Trump people. He indicated he did not know what was said.

But he said he believed the contacts were numerous enough to alert the FBI, which began its probe into Trump associates that same July, according to previous congressional testimony from then-FBI director James B. Comey.

The FBI probe of contacts came the same month the intelligence community fingered Russian agents as orchestrating hacks into Democratic Party computers and providing stolen emails to WikiLeaks.

Mr. Brennan, who has not hidden his dislike for Mr. Trump, testified he briefed the investigation’s progress to Mr. Obama, who at the time was trying to aid Hillary Clinton in her campaign against the Republican nominee.

First of all, despite the fact that the media continues repeating it, there is still no incontrovertible evidence that the Russians were behind any hack into DNC computers or the Clinton campaign. Yes, we are reminded frequently that this is the assessment of the “U.S. intelligence community,” but that assessment originated from agencies run by guys like Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey, neither of whom believed that Trump would be their boss come Jan. 20. And Brennan, we now know, was nothing more than a political hack and Obama sycophant.

In testimony to the House Intelligence Committee, Brennan said:

“I wanted to make sure that every information and bit of intelligence that we had was shared with the bureau [FBI] so that they could take it. It was well beyond my mandate as director of CIA to follow on any of those leads that involved U.S. persons. But I made sure that anything that was involving U.S. persons, including anything involving the individuals involved in the Trump campaign, was shared with the bureau.

“I was aware of intelligence and information about contacts between Russian officials and U.S. persons that raised concerns in my mind about whether or not those individuals were cooperating with the Russians, either in a witting or unwitting fashion, and it served as the basis for the FBI investigation to determine whether such collusion [or] cooperation occurred,” Mr. Brennan added.

Well, here we are, some 11 months later, and still there is no proof of anything regarding the allegations of collusion against Trump and the Russians. Still no charges. Certainly no prosecutions and convictions.

The Times notes that Brennan’s call for a counterterrorism investigation may have centered largely around that bogus “dossier,” which had made the rounds all last summer in Washington, D.C., and in the Establishment media. It’s worth noting at this point that the dossier was compiled by Christopher Steele, a former British spy who was hired by Democratic-tied Fusion GPS in Washington. The dossier was first circulated in June 2016; a month later, Fusion, in a memo, made spectacular charges that two people, Carter Page and Paul Manafort, who were only tenuously connected to the campaign, formed a team to establish contact with the Russians to hack the Democrats.

Both men have called those charges outrageously bogus.

As for the dossier, Steele has essentially disowned it, and after Buzzfeed irresponsibly decided to publish all 35 unsubstantiated pages of it, is now facing a lawsuit from Russian firms mentioned within that could spell the financial end of the web site if it loses.

The point is, this “investigation” of Trump was completely motivated by politics, not necessity. And Obama ally Brennan was leading the charge.

The question has never been asked in a public forum by members of Congress, nor has any witness to any congressional committee looking into this fake Russia collusion story been made to answer it: What was Obama’s role in all of this?
