The U.S. attorney assigned to investigate the origins of the ‘Russia’ probe as part of the “Spygate” effort to depose POTUS Donald Trump is “asking the right questions” as his investigation into the corruption of the FBI and Justice Department under the Obama administration.
In addition, Fox News reported Saturday, attorney John Durham has met “several times” with Attorney General William Barr as the probe continues apace, making Democrats nervous and, some would say, panicky.
In particular, Durham — a corruption specialist — is “digging into the FBI’s use” of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court warrants to spy on a member of the 2016 Trump campaign, warrants that were obtained, it appears, through fraudulent representation of the bogus “Steele Dossier,” a pack of unsubstantiated lies passed off to the court by James Comey’s bureau as legitimate intelligence.
Corey Lewandowski, the former campaign manager for Team Trump who has been keeping tabs on the investigation as it proceeds, told the network he believes that in the end, Barr and Durham will discover conclusively that the Spygate scandal “goes all the way to the top of the previous administration.”
“I think we’re gonna get to the top of this, and what we know is that President Trump has given Attorney General Barr the discretion to declassify any document he wants,” Lewandowsky noted.
“We believe…that the American people have a right to see why this FISA application was filed, the predicate for the FISA application…we know that Jim Comey swore to it under oath, that it was verified…[and] we know that the false, salacious dossier that was paid for by the Clinton campaign” was part of that FISA process, he added.
The former Trump campaign manager also reminded viewers that initially, Comey’s FBI was denied a FISA surveillance warrant earlier in the summer of 2016, which “only happens in about 2 percent of cases because they were being overly political” in their request.
“Now, with U.S. Attorney Durham on the case, I believe we’re going to see a criminal referral coming from [DoJ] Inspector General [Michael] Horowitz,” which “will go right to the top of the FBI, to senior members of the Department of Justice, and may lead right back to the previous White House.”
Fox News noted that former CIA Director Joh Brennan was in charge of a lot of the intelligence community at the time and has been one of POTUS Trump’s most vocal, vociferous critics — odd for a former intel chief. Asked if he believes Barr’s and Durham’s probe will eventually ensnare Brennan, Lewandowski said there’s “no question he has a role” in Spygate.
“Comey, Brennan, and [former Director of National Intelligence James] Clapper — the three horsemen of the intelligence community under the Obama administration — all knew that this dossier was false,” Lewandowski said.
“They all wanted to spy on Donald Trump. They had such visceral hatred for Donald Trump that they abused their positions in the government,” Lewandowski continued. “And they authorized, through the FISA application process and what we now know to be falsehoods, the spying on American citizens on domestic soil — a clear violation of the Fourth Amendment, I’ll add.
“They were so unequivocal that there was ‘collusion’ between the Trump campaign and the Russians that when the [special counsel Robert] Mueller report came out, all they said was, ‘Well, I guess we got some bad information,'” noted Lewandowski.
“This goes much higher than Comey, Brennan, and Clapper,” he said. “And I don’t know if it goes to the deputy national security adviser, Ben Rhodes, if it goes to Susan Rice [Obama’s former national security adviser], or if it goes even higher.
“But clearly, with those three individuals involved, the orders came from the very top to spy on a presidential candidate because they didn’t like his politics,” he added.
The former Trump campaign official brushed aside claims that the Obama administration was merely acting on real intelligence when launching Spygate.
“My sources tell me clearly that there’s an email chain out there that the senior-most members of our government under the previous administration were all on, and one name and one name alone has been redacted from that email,” he said. “I believe it’s Barack Obama who’s clearly read in on what was taking place.
“I believe he was completely read in on what transpired as it related to spying on the Trump campaign and the dossiers and the FISA applications that were asked for by the courts,” Lewandowski said.
Key piece of evidence: Remember that text exchange between FBI counterintelligence No. 2 Peter Strzok and former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, his lover?
In a Sept. 2, 2016, text to Strzok about preparing talking points for then-FBI Director James Comey to give to President Obama, Page said it was important to do so because “potus wants to know everything we’re doing.”
Ari Fleischer, former communications chief for President George W. Bush, tweeted in March, “Now that Mueller says there was no collusion, it is time to scrutinize the Obama Administration. They spied on a US campaign, wiretapped Americans, bit on the dossier and unmasked Flynn. What did Barack Obama know and what and when did he authorize it?”
