(NationalSentinel) Russia:Â After American “mainstream” media outlets have repeatedly accused Russia of interfering in the U.S. election on behalf of President Donald J. Trump - despite a lack of evidence Russian activities changed the outcome in any way - the Russian Parliament has ordered a probe into U.S. media operating in Russia.
As reported by Breitbart News, the media outlets include CNN and Voice of America “for compliance of their activities with Russian legislation,†according to a statement made on its website Friday:
The decision was reportedly made in retaliation against a bill introduced by Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) earlier this week that would allow the Department of Justice to use more tools to investigate state-owned Russian media outlet RT America for potential violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
“We have good reason to believe that RT News is coordinating with the Russian government to spread misinformation and undermine our democratic process,†said Shaheen in a press release. “The American public has a right to know if this is the case. RT News has made public statements boasting that it can dodge our laws with shell corporations, and it’s time for the Department of Justice to investigate.â€
Shaheen cited a U.S. intelligence estimate that claimed RT was integral in a Russian influence campaign to help Trump defeat Democratic challenger Hillary Clinton, though no one from the Democratic Party, U.S. intelligence or the pundit chattering class in D.C. has yet explained how Russia came to prefer Trump over Clinton, given the latter’s interactions with Russian President Vladimir Putin during her time in the Obama administration. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova was critical of Shaheen’s legislation, telling Reuters she should also make a list of books she thinks ought to be burned.
Okay, that’s clever, but the order by Russia’s legislative body makes perfect sense given the circumstances. The fact the RT is an organ of the Russian government isn’t a secret, but American media companies operating in other countries are also utilized by our government’s intelligence organizations to subvert or influence local politics and international policies. That isn’t a secret, either.

So while Ms. Shaheen’s bill, which likely isn’t going anywhere, is really designed to perpetuate the Democrat lie that Russian “influence” somehow changed our election outcome, she shouldn’t expect the Russian government to continue to be Democrats’ whipping stick, either.
Democrats are making it politically impossible for the Trump administration to improve relations with Russia, thanks to all of these baseless claims of outsized influence in our election.
