Trump refuses to let coronavirus stop him from holding rallies in effort to calm irrational fears

At this point there is more to fear from mainstream media over-hype

(TNS) President Donald Trump on Saturday pushed back against the media and Democrat haters over what he sees as overblown fears regarding the current outbreak of coronavirus.

In a much-needed display of leadership at a time when an increasing number of Americans are rushing to stock up on ’emergency’ items like anti-microbial wipes, bottled water, and toilet paper, the president, once again, is seeking to calm much of what he sees as media-driven irrationality surrounding the outbreak.

Agence France Presse reported:

U.S. President Donald Trump signaled Saturday that he has no intention of halting campaign rallies despite surging coronavirus infections, as a case was confirmed for the first time within miles of the White House.

The president struck a defiant tone as he spoke to reporters about the outbreak at his Mar a Lago resort in southern Florida, where he was hosting his Brazilian counterpart Jair Bolsonaro.

“We will have tremendous rallies and we’re doing very well, and we’ve done a fantastic job with respect to that subject,” Trump responded when asked if his “Keep America Great” campaign events would continue.

Asked if he was concerned that the virus has spread to near the White House — a man in his 50s with no history of international travel and no known contacts with any other infected people has been diagnosed with it — Trump responded, “No, I’m not concerned at all.”

On Friday, reporters asked the president as he visited the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about the risk of having so many people in close proximity — rallies — and he said it “doesn’t bother me at all.”

AFP adds:

The CDC warns on its coronavirus web page against people congregating in crowds and encourages the elderly, in particular, to stay home as much as possible.

Trump has been holding rallies — which attract many senior citizens — at a rate of more than one a week recently, often as counter-programming to Democratic primary contests or debates. …

Trump has been heavily criticized for repeatedly contradicting the advice of his administration’s own experts in his public pronouncements about the coronavirus.

It’s obvious what the media is trying to do here: Make the president out to be this narcissistic, massively irresponsible oaf who doesn’t care about ‘old people’ and is only interested in self-promotion.

But again, the numbers speak for themselves: ~400 people infected and 19 deaths, many of who, admittedly, were Americans of advanced age. Not tens of thousands of victims like China, or even thousands of victims, like South Korea and Italy.

Also, there is no requirement for Trump supporters to attend his rallies; if aged Americans want to skip the events because they don’t want to risk getting sick, we’re pretty sure the president understands that.

The fact is, for what is known about coronavirus and how little impact it has had on the U.S. thus far — especially when contrasted with the tens of millions of Americans who have been sickened this year alone by influenza — the president is simply trying to inject some rationality into the issue.

The ‘mainstream media,’ on the other hand, have other motives and intentions: Injure Trump politically 24/7/365, no matter what it does to their own credibility.

Have no fear when you wear The Armor of God. I recite that verse daily (Ephesians 6: 10-18 KJV).

I do it for President Trump too. Every morning —right after I salute my yuuuuge flag!
