(TNS) They say actions speak louder than words, and no where is that more true than in American politics.

During his 2016 campaign, President Trump appealed to black voters by asking them what they had to lose by voting for him.

The Democrats they have been supporting for decades haven’t delivered squat for the black community, the president said. Why not back his candidacy and, by default, Republicans in general, and see what happens?

What did happen?

In delivering on his promise of a robust economy, the president - with Republican help - enacted an agenda of tax cuts, curbing bureaucracy, energy exploration and expansion, and getting better trade deals, all of which have led to record unemployment for all demographics, including black Americans.

Barack Obama, our first black president, didn’t even do that. Not even close. In fact, you could argue the lives of African-Americans, generally, didn’t improve one iota under his eight-year reign.

What else did Candidate Trump say he would do?

That he would shore up border security (which also helps protect American workers); to the extent he can act alone, he has delivered.

He said he’d work to strengthen the military; he has.

He also said he would renegotiate NAFTA and get a better deal for Americans; he did (now it’s called USMCA).

But that deal is languishing in Congress. So, too, is the president’s initiative to lower prescription drug prices by reforming healthcare laws. So is his plan to begin rebuilding the nation’s crumbling infrastructure.

And why? Because Democrats who control one-half of the Legislative Branch — the House of Representatives, where all of these pieces of legislation must originate — couldn’t care less about anything except impeaching a president whose policies have made life better for all of us.

Mind you, Democrats mouth off about ‘lowering prescription drug prices’ and ‘rebuilding infrastructure’ and ‘better trade deals for workersl’ and so forth. But they don’t act on those initiatives.

For the Garbage Party, it’s Trump impeachment 24/7/365, as presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway explained Wednesday ahead of Democrats’ public impeachment hearings - despite all of Trump’s accomplishments.

Actions speak louder than words. The president should go on the offensive here and bring that message to the American people: If Democrats care so much about them, why aren’t they helping him make their lives better?

The answer, of course, is that Democrats really aren’t interested in anything but ‘getting’ President Trump.

What better 2020 campaign issue could the president use?
