Trump riffs on Fox News during interview with Hannity: Network ‘trying to be too politically correct’

There has been a definite shift in ideology, but we're not sounding the alarm - yet

By Tank Murdoch

(TNS) Long-time fans and viewers of Fox News have noted a decidedly Leftward shift in the network over the past several months involving some of the most familiar news anchors and contributors.

Chris Wallace seems tougher on Republicans these days than on Democrats, for instance. Judge Andrew Napolitano has, at times, offered bizarre legal and constitutional opinions in an attempt to criticize the president. The network has hired as analysts outright Democrat hacks like Donna Brazile, fired from CNN for giving Hillary Clinton debate questions in 2016 and who literally told the head of the RNC, Ronna McDaniel, to “go to hell” this week.

And the Fox News polls: In recent months they have taken a page from the liberal media playbook, oversampling Democrats so the results look bad for the president (here, here, and here).

The network’s biggest fan — President Donald Trump — has also noticed this shift, and made mention of it during an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News Wednesday night.

Early in the 45-minute phone interview, after the president commented on former Vice President Joe Biden’s monumental gaffes, he segued into a critique of the network.

“They put people on I think are inappropriate and say very, very false things and people don’t challenge them. I think they’re trying to be very politically correct or ‘fair and balanced,’ right, is the term,” he added. “But I think they hurt themselves, if you want to know the truth.”

No doubt. But Fox News’ prime-time lineup features, in order, Tucker Carlson, Hannity, and Laura Ingraham remain rock-solid in their conservative views and accurate in their coverage of the administration. And it shows: The network finished 2019 with the best prime-time viewership numbers in the network’s history. And they killed Super Tuesday coverage.

So, we’re not concerned — yet — that Fox News has gone over to the dark side. But like the president, we, too, have noticed the sometimes subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle shift toward the ‘mainstream’ at a network that built its brand and its massive audience at being a legitimate alternative to the Left’s stable of media propagandists at the other networks.

Haha Clintons/Adix

Sure, their talk show hosts are conservative. Their news readers have been middle to liberal for years. Their group shows are middle at best.

I AGREE TOTALLY WITH ” the sometimes subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle shift toward the ‘mainstream’ at a network that built its brand and its massive audience at being a legitimate alternative to the Left’s stable of media propagandists at the other networks.” I USE TO HATE FOX NEWS YEARS AGO, AND THEN TRUMP GOT ELECTED AND I STARTED WATCHING THEM… AND APPROVE OF SOME OF THEIR COMMENTATORS… BUT SOME OF THEM LIKE HANNITY, LAURA, AND NOW JESSE IS FALLING INTO THE SAME CATEGORY OF THINKING THEY PERSONALLY ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THEIR GUESTS, AND CONTINUALLY INTERRUPT THEM CAUSE THEY THINK… Read more »

I see Juan Williams, Chris Wallace, Donna Brazile, Judge Napalitano, Baldy named Chris and several other that bring comments that are without fact, just opinion. They never get challenged. When they appear I look at Newsmax. I watch Tucker and Hannity but get frustrated because much about what they talk, nothing gets corrected. Senator Graham has promised to get to the bottom of the corruption and has done nothing. What a liar.
