Just as many had predicted, President Obama doesn’t plan to go quietly into the night after President-elect Donald J. Trump is inaugurated Jan. 20, like every other president has done.

No, he plans to remain politically active now that his anointed successor, Hillary Clinton-who vowed to protect his legacy and policies-lost her second presidential bid.

During his final weekly address to the nation, Obama promised to stick around Washington, D.C., to “defend” his policies and legacies, as if Trump and his administration aren’t allowed to implement their own policies and champion their own legislation because they won.

“As I prepare to take on the even more important role of citizen, know that I will be there with you every step of the way to ensure that this country forever strives to live up to the incredible promise of our founding — that all of us are created equal, and all of us deserve every chance to live out our dreams,” Obama said.

“I promise you that next year Michelle and I are going to be right there with you, and the clouds are going to start parting and the sun is going to come back out, and we’re going to be busy, involved in the amazing stuff that we’ve been doing all these years before.”

He went on to claim “progress” on a number of fronts, but that’s just part of Obama’s characteristic narcissism. The most important take away from this is that he plans to remain a thorn in the Trump administration’s side, as though he is the head of some shadow government that still has a claim to power.

And of course every Obama policy Trump dumps and every piece of legislation the Republican Congress reverses, the ‘mainstream’ media will instantly turn to Obama, to give him a platform to voice his displeasure and opinion as though it still mattered.

Well, Mr. Obama, your opinion will no longer matter after Jan. 20, and no matter how many times the press runs to you for it, that fact will not change.

Here’s how to shut down Obama fast and early: Sean Spicer, as Trump’s spokesperson, or the president himself, will have to publicly remind the lapdog media and Obama that Trump is president now, that No. 44 had his two terms in office, and that he is no longer setting the country’s agenda. Policy is still set in the Executive Branch, and that branch is now occupied by someone who isn’t named Obama.

That won’t shut the man up, nor will it keep the press from running to him, mind you. But it will serve as a useful reminder to the country and the world that Donald J. Trump, and not Barack H. Obama, is now large and in charge in the Oval Office.
