Kellyanne Conway smacks Pelosi over posh Hawaii vacay during shutdown: ‘Less hula, more moolah’ for DHS

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway criticized likely incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for leaving Washington, D.C. and vacationing at a posh Hawaii resort hotel over Christmas while a portion of the government remained shut down.

In particular, Conway hit Pelosi over Democrats’ refusal to negotiate with POTUS Donald Trump over funding for his long-promised border wall and other border security measures.

“The Democrats have to come back. Nancy Pelosi needs to come back from Hawaii — less hula, more moolah for the DHS Customs and Border Patrol, funding our border security,” Conway said during an interview on “Fox News Sunday.”

“They need to come to the table and do their job. A fully-functioning Democracy demands that both parties come together and that the Congress and the executive branch work together,” she added.

Democrats will return Jan. 3 when Congress reconvenes. But it doesn’t look like they will relent on funding for the president’s border wall, according to incoming Majority leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md.

“I’m going to be the majority leader of the House, as of January 3. And I intend to put a bill on the floor, on January 3 that, if the Senate approves it and the president signs it, will open government,” he told CNN on Sunday, according to Breitbart News.

“And it will agree to all of the bills that are Republican bills. These are not our bills. When we talk about compromise, we are prepared to vote for the Republican bills that passed the Senate committee, passed the Senate,” he added.

“There [has] been conferencing on those bills. We’re prepared to pass those, send them to the Senate, and then I think the Senate ought to pass them and send them to the president.”

As for wall funding, Hoyer noted that it’s “not an option.
