Socialists and Marxists have never been able to freely impose their economic and political agendas on free people by being honest with them, so they have to resort to lying about the true effects of their plans in order to fool people into accepting them.
That’s what Barack Obama and Democrats did in order to ‘sell’ the country on a plan for the government to take over one-sixth of the U.S. economy. Obamacare never delivered as promised; people lost insurance plans they liked, monthly premiums skyrocketed along with deductibles, healthcare costs haven’t gone down, E.R. visits never decreased, etc. The law never even achieved 100 percent “universal” coverage, either, which was the central element of the plan.
Now a new socialist/Marxist beloved by the “mainstream media” (MSM) has managed to get elected to Congress, and like Obama before her, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has attracted several Democrats to her cause: The “Green New Deal,” the latest Leftist plan to “transform” America into a country 180 degrees opposite of what we were founded to be.
Billed as an “ambitious” green energy project that conjures images of FDR’s “New Deal,” which was a non-free market, government-centric socialist economic “solution” to the Great Depression that subsequent academic studies found only prolonged America’s crisis and suffering, Ocasio-Cortez’s plan calls for, among other things, ending all air travel, replacing all fossil fuel and nuclear-powered energy plants and installing government jobs programs and benefits even to those who don’t want to work, and all within a decade.
Though there is a lot in the Green New Deal to hate and debate, Fox News‘ Tucker Carlson on Friday honed in on the part of the plan proposing to guarantee “economic security to all who are unable or unwilling to work.”
As his guest, Tucker had Cornell University law professor Robert Hockett, an advisor to Ocasio-Cortez on to explain the nonsensical proposal.
When questioned about it, Hockett told Carlson such a provision does not actually appear in Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal.
Carlson asked, “Why would we ever pay people who are ‘unwilling to work?'”
“Uh…I…we never would, right? And AOC has never said anything like that. I think you’re referring to some sort of document that…some doctored document that somebody other than us has been circulating,” Hockett said.
Needless to say, the Left-wing media monitors were all over that segment, claiming that Hockett really took it to the ‘right-wing conservative host’ who was attempting to perpetuate a ‘lie’ about Ocasio-Cortez’s plan.
In particular, the segment generated much discussion on social media after a Media Matters researcher flagged the segment, claiming Hockett “debunk[s] all the conservative media lies” about the Green New Deal.
Is that so?
An archived version of the Green New Deal FAQ page — it was removed from Ocasio-Cortez’s website after generating widespread mockery and derision — show the Green New Deal does, in fact, guarantee “economic security to all who are unable or unwilling to work.”
Here's an archived version of the now-deleted @AOC's House webpage with the #GreenNewDeal FAQ's and the "guarantee" in all its glory: "It guarantees to everyone… Economic security to all who are… unwilling to work."https://t.co/UlOtwgD3dT pic.twitter.com/qr29dzU2fV

In a subsequent email statement to The Daily Caller, Hockett had to finally admit that he was wrong, not Tucker.
“It appears there was more than one document being discussed yesterday, only one of which I had heard about with any definiteness by last evening after a long day of media appearances – namely, the one referred to by the Congresswoman in her tweet. I regret that we seem unknowingly to have ended up speaking about different documents for a minute during our longer and otherwise ‘on-the-same-page’ conversation last night,” he said.
Nevertheless, video of Hockett allegedly debunking Tucker continues to circulate on social media — meaning a very large number of Americans have successfully been duped and most likely intentionally so. Corrected versions of events rarely, if ever, receive the same attention as the first incorrect version of events, mostly because the Left’s gatekeepers don’t put nearly as much emphasis on fixing a lie as perpetuating one.
Which brings us back to our original contention: As Obama did with Obamacare and like Hugo Chavez did in Venezuela, Ocasio-Cortez and her people are going to have to lie early and often about what her Green New Deal would actually do to the U.S. economy if they are ever going to get it passed.
Because if they were honest about how it will destroy our standard of living by wrecking our economy for decades and turning back our technological achievements, most Americans would reject it out of hand.
