(TNS) On Sunday White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham took fake news factory CNN to task over an unhinged tweet one of the lightly-watched network’s regulars directed first lady Melania Trump.

Grisham also slammed tweet-sender Rick Wilson, a Republican ‘consultant’ who responded to a tweet sent by Melania by writing, #BeInfected, a reference to the circulating coronavirus.

In a different time, a doting husband would have chased a nudnik like Wilson to the corners of the earth and worn him out with stiff jabs to the chin, straight rights and lefts to the jaw, and a couple of elbows to the nether regions in order to send the message he wasn’t pleased with the threat.

But the president obviously can’t do that and so punk cowards like Wilson get away with being punk cowards.

Nevertheless, there is something that CNN can certainly do, that is, if the network retains any semblance of decency and any desire whatsoever to reclaim its lost credibility.

“I think it shows what a small fraction of a man he is,” Grisham, who is also press secretary for the first lady, said on “Fox News Sunday.”

“The fact that he did that, I really do hope that the particular cable network that he goes on, I hope that Don Lemon especially, will insist on not having him on anymore.”

The Washington Examiner noted:

His tweet followed Lemon and Wilson facing criticism in late January after the latter mocked supporters of President Trump as unintelligent while Lemon fought to contain his laughter. Also on the panel was New York Times columnist and CNN contributor Wajahat Ali to discuss a feud between Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and NPR, but Wilson used the topic to pivot to an attack on Trump supporters.

“[Pompeo] also knows deep in his heart that Donald Trump couldn’t find Ukraine on a map if you had the letter ‘U’ and a picture of an actual, physical crane next to it,” Wilson said, prompting laughs from Lemon. “He knows that this is, you know, an administration defined by ignorance of the world. And so, that’s partly him playing to their base and playing to their audience. You know, the credulous boomer rube demo that backs Donald Trump.”

After receiving heap big criticism, Lemon took to the air in a subsequent program and told his dwindling, puny audience that he was sorry and that he really didn’t hear all of what his punk coward guest said.

Sure, Don. And you’re going to win a Pulitzer Prize for ‘factual reporting’ for the next 10 years in a row.

Most Americans have had it with this kind of treatment being directed at the president of the United States, his wife, and his family by pinheads, jerks, sore losers, and small-minded little men like Wilson.

Which is why CNN’s ratings are lower than whale droppings on the ocean floor.
