Anyone who believed Barack Obama when he nominated then-federal judge Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court because he was a “moderate” is a moron.

Barack Obama is no ‘moderate,’ and neither were the two uber-progressive women — Sonja Sotomayor and Elena Kagan — he put on the high court.

And Garland, as Biden’s attorney general, is proving by the day he’s just another post-1960s radical who used to be against “the establishment” but now that he’s in charge wants to use “the establishment” to do what he used to protest against: Crush dissent and impose Washington’s will on the states.

You may have known that duly elected Texas lawmakers passed, and duly elected Gov. Greg Abbott signed, a legislation barring abortions after six weeks when a fetal heart tone can be heard.

Texas didn’t ban abortions, it restricted them — the way left-wing blue states ‘restrict’ access to, and ownership of, guns.

But because Democrats are the party of death, this offends them.

And it offends Merrick Garland.

In remarks to the press, Garland demonstrated that he doesn’t care about the 10th Amendment or the people of Texas whose representatives passed a law they were perfectly within their power to pass.

Per The Hill:

The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday said it will protect women who are seeking abortions in the state of Texas amid turmoil following the passage of a controversial restrictive abortion law in the state.

In a press release, Attorney General Merrick Garland said the department will explore 'all options' to challenge the new Texas law, adding that they will provide support for women in the Lone Star State who are still seeking abortions.

'The department will provide support from federal law enforcement when an abortion clinic or reproductive health center is under attack. We have reached out to U.S. Attorneys' Offices and FBI field offices in Texas and across the country to discuss our enforcement authorities,' Garland said in the statement.

'We will not tolerate violence against those seeking to obtain or provide reproductive health services, physical obstruction or property damage in violation of the FACE Act,' he said.

The FACE Act prohibits the use or threat of force and physical obstruction that injures or interferes with a person who is seeking to obtain or provide reproductive services, according to the DOJ release.

First of all, this law is “controversial” only to the left, including the left’s media, like The Hill.

Second, Garland forgets his place: He’s not the AG of Texas, and there is nothing that Texas has done that violates any federal law. No one said a damned thing about “physically” obstructing any woman or committing violence against them.

The Texas law is all procedural; anyone found violating the six-week ban can be sued and will be liable for financial awards.

This is none of the federal government’s business. And frankly, if Texas needs to draw a line in the sand, it should.

Enough of the Biden regime’s overreach.
