Weeks ago, Texas state Democrats made a spectacle of themselves fleeing the state and their duty to represent their voters because they love vote fraud and refused to help majority Republicans pass an integrity measure to ensure free and fair elections.
They jetted off to Washington D.C., made a few PR appearances, got to meet with Kamala Harris (who’s too busy to do something about the lawless, open border) and posted social media posts about what they were eating and hanging their underwear on hotel shower curtains to show how they were “roughing it.”
But the world does turn and under threat of arrest, enough of them returned to the Lone Star state eventually to sit in the special session Gov. Greg Abbott (R) called so the legislature could do its duty and pass much-needed voter integrity legislation.
“Protecting the integrity of our elections is critical in the state of Texas, which is why I made election integrity an emergency item during the 87th Legislative Session,” Abbott said in a statement following passage. “I thank Senator Brian Hughes, Representative Andrew Murr, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, and Speaker Dade Phelan for stepping up to ensure that this bill made it to the finish line during the second special session.”

According to Gov. Abbott, the legislation makes it “easier to vote and harder to cheat” in the Lone Star State.
“Senate Bill 1 will solidify trust and confidence in the outcome of our elections by making it easier to vote and harder to cheat,” Abbott added. “I look forward to signing Senate Bill 1 into law, ensuring election integrity in Texas.”
Fox News adds:
The bill, as noted by Abbott, creates uniform statewide voting hours, maintains and expands voting access for registered voters who need assistance, prohibits drive-through voting, and enhances transparency by authorizing poll watchers to observe more aspects of the election process.
In addition, SB1 also bans the distribution of unsolicited applications for mail-in ballots and gives voters with a defective mail-in ballot the opportunity to correct the defect.
So, Texas Republicans will get their voter integrity legislation, as other red states have done, ahead of the 2022 midterms.
That means that Democrats who control Congress will push even harder to pass their ‘voter reform’ bill that federalizes all national elections and wipes out what Texas and other states just passed.
Prepare for court battles when that happens because they’re coming. Let’s hope enough of Trump’s appointees remember he chose them for their constitutional originalism.
