Remember a former federal prosecutor named John Durham?

He earned the nickname of “Bull” Durham during his tenure for his tenacity in going after official misconduct and lawbreaking.

When then-Attorney General William Barr put Durham on the case to try and find out the origins of the so-called “Russiagate” deep state spying operation on the 2016 Trump campaign, a lot of people were encouraged that, finally, people responsible for rampant lawbreaking would be held legally accountable.

That was then, circa 2019.

Two-plus years later, the only conviction has been that of a low-level FBI lawyer, Kevin Clinesmith, who didn’t do any time.

That’s it.

So we, months ago, wrote off this ‘investigation’ as just another circle jerk to keep our gaze focused away from the real play — finishing off Donald Trump and going after his supporters.

That opinion was further strengthened when Durham left the DoJ though he remained on in Russiagate investigatory caretaker role.

Now, suddenly, Durhams’s name has come up again: House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes uttered it.

He seems to think there’s still hope Durham will charge people with crimes connected with Russiagate.

'I'm still positive, and I guess I have to be, that people are going to go to jail, and they are going to be prosecuted for the Russia grand fiasco and the Russia hoax,' Nunes said on the Sara Carter Show podcast.

'Maybe I'm a little Pollyanna, but I just have to have faith ultimately that there was a special counsel created, Durham does have the power, we are fully expecting him—it may not be as broad as we want it to be,' Nunes added later.

'But look, there are some major perpetrators. I think, as you and everybody else know, we've made over 14 criminal referrals—that doesn't mean 14 individuals, that means 14 different criminal referrals involving multiple individuals,” he said.

Maybe a little Pollyanna?

We like Devin Nunes around here, but come on.

Barr didn’t do squat about the illegal spying he knows took place, and the current AG, Biden’s boy, Merrick Garland, sure as hell isn’t going to charge and try anyone.

So we are a little surprised that Nunes still has faith in this obviously unaccountable system of ‘justice.’
