Mass shootings involving military-looking semi-automatic rifles are horrific and they garner a lot of headlines.
But the reality is, shootings with such weapons are extremely rare.
That said, the lunatic Democratic left hates those weapons and has been trying to take them away from us for decades…without much success.
Well, now that he is preparing to be a lame-duck president (he won’t last a year), Joe Biden is telling us how his handlers are going to try again to take our semi-autos.
Joe Biden released a statement Monday remembering the December 14, 2012, attack on Sandy Hook Elementary and declared gun violence a 'national health crisis.'
'To the grandparents, parents, siblings, children, spouses, and fellow broken and healing hearts of Sandy Hook, I know. No matter how long it's been, every time you talk about it, you relive it as though you just heard the news. Eight years later, I know the pain never fully heals,” he said.
After describing December 14, 2012, as 'the saddest day we had in the White House,' he praised Sandy Hook parents for 'working to change our laws and our culture around gun violence and how we protect and nurture our children.'
He noted further:
I know it can feel like an impossible task. Since this December day eight years ago, your nightmare has been felt by thousands of other families in our country who have lost a piece of their soul in other schools, a shopping mall, a movie theatre, a club, a house of worship, in their neighborhoods, and in their homes. Some of these tragedies make national headlines, so many more do not. Every year, more than 30,000 people die from gun violence across America—a statistic we would associate with war in a far-off place. Countless more are left with a lifetime of injuries and trauma.
Biden went on to say gun violence is a 'national health crisis' that must be confronted, stressing 'thoughts and prayers…[are] not enough.'
But, as Breitbar’s Awr Hawkins notes:
The claim swells actual gun violence deaths by 66 percent, as over 20,000 of the annual firearm-related deaths in the U.S. are suicides, not homicides. Because of this, more gun control is not a solution.
For the record, and by comparison, more than 38,800 people were killed in motor vehicle accidents in 2019.
The vast majority of those crashes were caused by speeding or drunk driving, both of which are already against the law.
Are you following us here?
No one is calling automobile deaths a “national health crisis.”
No one is calling for a ban on automobiles.
Biden’s BS is just the latest attempt by a Democrat to deprive Americans of weapons that would present a problem for government tyrants who wish to rule us rather than govern us.
Here’s what needs to happen: Every red state should inform Biden, politely or otherwise, to get bent if he thinks he’s going to impose massive new gun control on them.
The blue compliant states can do whatever the hell they want. We’re not concerned about those lost causes.
But there are enough red states (and red regions in blue states) that could and should say ‘no’ to new gun control to make it impossible for a Biden regime to enforce the new edict.
Just like the blue states refused to go along with President Trump on his immigration policies, red states can and must nullify Biden’s unconstitutional mandates.
