By now you’ve likely heard or read about bombshell allegations of Biden family corruption published by the New York Post on Wednesday.
The Post noted that, according to emails and other materials obtained from the hard drive of a laptop allegedly abandoned at a computer repair shop in Delaware by Hunter Biden, the family of the former vice president, including him, have substantial illicit financial ties to a number of firms and government entities in Ukraine, China, and elsewhere.
You may also have heard that following the Post’s initial bombshell report, social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter began intentionally blocking or censoring the story, preventing users from either reaching or sharing it.
That has infuriated tens of millions of Americans as patently unfair to President Trump will innately helpful for Joe Biden, who’s trying to become our very compromised president (if the allegations made by the post and contained in the computer documentation are true).
But more than that, the blocking and censorship may also have been patently illegal.
The Republican National Committee sure thinks so.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) on Friday filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) alleging that the censorship of the New York Post article about Hunter Biden's overseas business dealings and former Vice President Joe Biden's alleged knowledge of those dealings amounts to an 'illegal corporate in-kind political contribution' to the Biden campaign, Fox News has learned.
The complaint, filed by the RNC on Friday and obtained exclusively by Fox News, states that the RNC 'believes that Twitter has violated FECA and the Commission's Regulations by making corporate in-kind contributions to Biden for President.'
The RNC, in its complaint, said Twitter 'is a partisan actor, run by partisan Democrats' and is 'using its corporate resources to provide active support for Joe Biden's campaign in violation of federal law,' and demanded the FEC 'conduct an immediate investigation' into Twitter's 'illegal in-kind contributions to the Biden campaign,' and 'impose the maximum penalty allowed under the law.' …
The RNC claimed that Twitter is 'engaged in arguably the most brazen and unprecedented act of media suppression in this country's history, and it is doing so for the clear purpose of supporting the Biden campaign.'
The RNC claimed that Twitter has 'taken unprecedented actions to suppress the articles from being shared on its platform.'
'Democrat media consultants can only dream of such abilities,' the complaint read. 'Through its ad hoc, partisan oppression of media critical of Biden, [Twitter] is making illegal, corporate in-kind contributions as it provides unheard-of media services for Joe Biden's campaign.'
Whether Twitter violated campaign finance laws is still an open question, of course.
But there is little doubt that, after years of outsized censoring and punishing of conservative voices on the platform, Twitter “is a partisan actor, run by partisan Democrats.”
It’s been suggested that Twitter likely knew it would be rapped and fined for blocking access to the Post story but the platform considered the fine it may receive worth it to protect one of the most vulnerable, blackmailable presidential candidates since Bill Clinton.
