By day two of her confirmation hearings, it became clear that Judge Amy Coney Barrett was a stellar pick by President Donald Trump to succeed the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg.
Her sound logic, constitutional reasoning, and utter brilliance was enough to even win over — perhaps — that left-wing anti-gun lunatic Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
Nevertheless, leftists have been crawling out of the woodwork to besmirch her character and sully her reputation, both as a former academic at Notre Dame, where she taught law school for decades, and her years as a federal jurist.
In fact, many of those leftists are from her alma mater.
A letter signed by 88 faculty members at the Catholic-themed college criticizing their one-time their 'colleague' and asking that her confirmation be halted — but not a single one of the signatories are from the law school.
BREAKING: 88 of Amy Coney Barrett's faculty colleagues at Notre Dame have released a letter saying she should withdraw from consideration for the Supreme Court. https://t.co/ujZ6zMFY6d

'We're asking a lot, we know,' the Notre Dame faculty letter said.
'Should Vice-President Biden be elected, your seat on the court will almost certainly be lost. That would be painful, surely. Yet there is much to be gained in risking your seat. You would earn the respect of fair-minded people everywhere. You would provide a model of civic selflessness. And you might well inspire Americans of different beliefs toward a renewed commitment to the common good.'
First and foremost, no leftist is ever going to ‘respect’ Republicans. There may have been a day when Democrats, especially in the Senate, were congenial enough to have some respect for GOP colleagues, but those days are long gone.
Secondly, if Democrats were in control of the Senate and a Democratic president was in office, they wouldn’t hesitate to nominate an confirm a left-wing judicial activist to the high court. Not for a second.
But there’s more to this faculty letter, as The Daily Caller reports, which helps explain their real motivation in opposing Barrett (hint: they’re leftists, too):
None of the faculty members who signed the letter were from the University of Notre Dame Law School.
Four of those on the list were gender studies professors, five were peace studies professors, nine specialized in English, and seven specialized in Notre Dame's Hesburgh Libraries.
Meanwhile, the DC notes further:
The Notre Dame faculty letter came after over 50 law professors sent a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee Friday praising Barrett's qualifications as 'stellar' and expressing support for her confirmation.
'Although we have differing perspectives on the methods and conclusions in her scholarship, we all agree that her contributions are rigorous, fair-minded, respectful, and constructive,' the law profs wrote.
'Her work demonstrates a thorough understanding of the issues and challenges that federal courts confront.'
Barrett is very likely going to be confirmed, and — thanks to Trump and Republicans — America will have another Constitution-centric justice on the highest court in the land, precisely where she should be.
