Out of an ‘abundance of compassion’ or something like that, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden said Friday he would order negative ads pulled by his campaign, to show respect for President Trump after he and first lady Melania Trump both came down with COVID-19.
'Jill and I send our thoughts to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a swift recovery. We will continue to pray for the health and safety of the president and his family,' Biden wrote on Twitter. 'This cannot be a partisan moment. It must be an American moment. We have to come together as a nation.'
So much for that.
Former Vice President Joe Biden's campaign is still running negative ads on Facebook despite several reports on Friday that it would stop negative ads about the president while he is fighting coronavirus.
'Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will restore our nation's sanity, humanity, and global leadership,' a Biden supporter says in a Facebook video. 'America will really be great again when Trump is purged from our lives.'
The ad started running on Wednesday and remains active on Facebook.
The Biden campaign has reportedly pulled down some of its more overtly negative ads against Trump on Facebook, but some of them remain live.
Look, it’s politics. It’s a blood sport. I get it.
But if you’ve promised to do something, be more like President Trump and deliver on the promise.
