Back in late July, Attorney General William Barr was subject to hours of abuse by brain-dead, partisan Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee.
When Democrats weren’t lecturing him about what a lout he and President Trump are, they would ask questions only to interrupt the AG and refuse to let him answer.
Democrats called their clown show ‘oversight.’ Rational people called it ‘political theater’ and ‘a hit job’ that accomplished nothing (how can you do actual oversight if you don’t let the department head answer questions?).
In any event, the committee’s chairman, Jerrold ‘Gots My Impeachin’ Pants On’ Nadler wants more DoJ officials to appear for more abuse heaped on them by Democrats.
Only this time, the DoJ isn’t having it.
The Justice Department on Monday refused a request from Rep. Jerrold Nadler, the House Judiciary Committee chairman, for top officials to testify on several issues, citing a recent appearance by Attorney General William Barr which it called an attempt by committee members to 'air grievances.'
The letter, signed by Assistant Attorney General Stephen E. Boyd, said that committee members spent most of Barr's July 28 appearance at an Oversight hearing to scold and insult the country's top prosecutor. The letter even pointed to how an article in The New York Times described the hearing.
'Democrat after Democrat posed questions to Mr. Barr only to cut him off when he tried to reply, substituting their own replies for his,' the Times wrote.
Boyd's letter was in response to Nadler's request for Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband, Bureau of Prisons Director Michael Carvajal and U.S. Marshals Service Director Donald Washington to appear before its Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties. One of the meetings was scheduled for Sept. 24.
The Democrats will have plenty of Americans voting for them in November, no doubt. And the party may even keep the House.
But it won’t be due to any real accomplishment; it’ll just be so they can continue to harass and harangue the president and his Cabinet.
What a puny, pathetic, ultimately meaningless existence.
The good news is, the president’s people have had enough of the abuse.
