(TNS) Just as the nation begins to come together somewhat to take on the coronavirus as a united people, here come those jerks at the Southern Poverty Law Center with an early contender for the most tone-deaf moment of 2020.

On Wednesday as lawmakers came together on a coronavirus relief package that will provide quick monetary relief to Americans smarting from job losses and other economic fallout thanks to business closures and other emergency measures, the SPLC dropped its annual ‘hate report‘ complete with the politicized ‘map’ abused by Leftists everywhere to dump on conservatives and supporters of President Donald Trump.

Interestingly, the group even acknowledged the virus outbreak in its fundraising email.

“As the coronavirus continues to spread, we are guided by our concern for the health and safety of our staff and the communities we serve, including you,” the email said. “During this challenging time, we are committed more than ever to continuing our fight for justice and pushing back against those exploiting this pandemic to further their radical agenda.”

Oh, brother. Talk about exploitation of events.

That’s because the SLPC did nothing to correct misinformation about the virus and its spread. Rather, it consisted of some of the same, old Leftist hate drivel which has infamously been purposely skewed to hammer conservatives for years.

But don’t take our word for it.

PJ Media correspondent Tyler O’Neill, author of “Making Hate Pay: The Corruption of the Southern Poverty Law Center,” notes:

…[L]ast year former SPLC employee Bob Moser came forward about being complicit in “a highly profitable scam” to bilk donors by exaggerating hate. He spoke out amid a racial discrimination and sexual harassment scandal that cleared out the SPLC’s leadership. The organization has yet to release the internal review it promised amid the scandal.

Rather, the Marxist group has released an updated “hate groups” map that inspired a lunatic to engage in an act of domestic terrorism in Washington, D.C., in 2012.

“It is appalling that the SPLC would choose this moment of crisis to launch their divisive and false ‘hate report,’ Jeremy Tedesco, vice president of U.S. advocacy at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), told PJ Media.

“Instead, we call on SPLC to apologize, retract it immediately and join the rest of America in uniting against this common health threat. They should use their influence to assist American communities in productive ways, rather than sow discord and division among them,” he added.

By the way, O’Neill points out that the ADF has played a role in 56 Supreme Court victories (10 in the last decade), but somehow managed to find itself on the SPLC’s hate map. Go figure.

How biased is the SPLC? NewsTarget reported in June 2018:

As for the Southern Poverty Law Center, this is an organization that disguises itself as a reputable, bipartisan group that seeks to preserve civil rights, when in reality it’s nothing more than a far-left, anti-conservative organization.

They have developed something of a habit of labeling certain groups (mostly conservative and rarely liberal) as “hate groups” as a means of discrediting them and damaging their reputation. Ironically, when it comes to radical left-wing groups like Antifa that are staunchly opposed to republicans and President Trump, the Southern Poverty Law Center won’t even come close to using the term “hate group.”

Yep. And now, at a time when we’re all being urged to put aside our political differences, one of the biggest Left-wing bomb-throwers heaves a massive Molotov cocktail into the country.
