(TNS) As though Congress were short of Left-wing Democrat kooks, voters in Chicago are about to send another one to Washington to join the four “squad” members led by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York.
Candidate Marie Newman defeated incumbent Democrat Rep. Dan Lipinski in the primary for Illinois’ third congressional district on Tuesday.

Newman failed to knock Lipinski — one of the few remaining “Blue Dog” conservative Democrats — in 2018. But this time around, she was backed by pro-choice and “progressive” forces Lipinski, “who compiled a pro-life, pro-Israel, and pro-market record over the last fifteen years representing the southwest side of Chicago and nearby suburbs,” Breitbart News reported.
For more context, Lipinski was one of several dozen Democrats to oppose Obamacare against the ‘advice’ of his party in 2010.
After Ocasio-Cortez endorsed Lipinski’s opponent last year, he had responded: “Ms. Newman is an extreme candidate who is completely out of step with the voters of Illinois’ Third District who do not want to be represented by a fifth member of the ‘Squad.’”
But…apparently, they do. Or, at least, enough people who were motivated to vote.
Newman will face Republican Mike Fricilone in November, but again, the district has backed a Democrat for decades. And what will her agenda become if she wins?
“This is a critical victory for the progressive movement in showing that voters are ready for a new generation of progressive leadership in the Democratic Party,” said Alexandra Rojas, executive director of Justice Democrats, a Marxist organization that backed Newman’s campaign.
“This isn’t just a loss for one incumbent. It’s a defeat for machine politics and big corporate donors who want to stop our movement for ‘Medicare for all,’ a Green New Deal and reproductive rights.”

Ah, the language of ‘revolution.’ Guess none of these folks have taken any lessons from Bernie Sanders’ imploded campaign for president, in which he not only pushed the same policies and programs, but praised tyrants and dictators in the process.
