(TNS) One of two Republican senators currently working to uncover alleged corruption involving Joe and Hunter Biden is set to make his next move.
Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin (above, left), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, announced Friday he will issue a subpoena to Blue Star Strategies, a consulting firm that is connected to Hunter Biden and Burisma, the Ukrainian gas company where Biden served as a well-paid board member and which hired the firm to fight back against allegations of corruption.

Johnson’s announcement came after he canceled a committee vote to issue a subpoena for Andrii Telizhenko, a consultant who works with the company.
In a memo to the committee, according to Red State, “There were discrepancies in what had been told in one briefing versus the next briefing, and then even greater discrepancies in staff notes.”
As such, Johnson said the next move would be to simply send a subpoena to the firm itself.
“While we work through those questions, at the suggestion of both Republican and Democrat Committee members, we will instead go straight to the source and compel the same records and an appearance directly from Blue Star Strategies,” he said in the memo.
The Wisconsin Republican told The Hill that the subpoena likely would go out this week.
“You do need to provide proper notice,” Johnson said. “I wouldn’t want to give them [Blue Star] any excuse to say ‘we didn’t get proper notice.’ ”
Meanwhile, Democrats on the committee are pulling their usual acts of subversion and disinformation.
“Ron Johnson is turning the Homeland Security Committee into an instrument of Russian disinformation,” Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) tweeted this week.
Ah, yes. The ‘Russian disinformation’ hoax. Wash, rinse, repeat the lie often so that for many, it becomes truth.
Heinrich isn’t alone. As The Hill noted further:
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) also appeared to knock Johnson in a letter to four inspectors general on Wednesday, asking to investigate if their respective agencies were “choosing to comply with requests that are designed to damage the president’s political opponents,” while ignoring other requests for information from Congress.
Right. Because Trump isn’t allowed to actually run his administration; he must surrender it to the whims of the minority party in the Senate.
In any event, Johnson’s subpoena is the latest step in a months-long investigation into Biden & Biden regarding allegations of corruption in Ukraine by him and fellow Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa (above, right). As we reported in February, both men requested travel documents from the U.S. Secret Service pertaining to Hunter Biden:
The senators sent a letter Wednesday to Secret Service Director James M. Murray requesting information “about whether Hunter Biden used government-sponsored travel to help conduct private business, to include his work for Rosemont Seneca and related entities in China and Ukraine.â€
The senators asked that Murray comply with their request no later than Feb. 19.
“The Committee on Finance and Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs (“the committeesâ€) are reviewing potential conflicts of interest posed by the business activities of Hunter Biden and his associates during the Obama administration, particularly with respect to his business activities in Ukraine and China,†the letter said, according to Carter.
They asked for “Hunter Biden’s travel arrangements to conduct business related to his dealings in Ukraine and China, among other countries, while he received a protective detail. Please describe the protective detail that Hunter Biden received while his father was Vice President.â€
Also last month, we followed up on Sara A. Carter’s report that both men had requested the National Archives search for all Obama-era documents focusing on communications between the White House and Ukraine.
Carter noted that archives personnel are now reviewing “thousands†of documents related to the senators’ request. She added that the docs “are significant as they directly concern meetings that senior Obama Administration and Ukrainian officials had at the White House in 2016.â€

“We  will continue our oversight. We are going to get to the bottom of what all has been happening here. Hopefully we will get access to the information to make it available to the American public so they really do understand what’s been happening,” Johnson told Carter.
