(TNS) If you were wondering whether or not President Trump held a bit of a grudge against his first attorney general, Jeff Sessions, over the latter’s recusal from the ‘Russia collusion’ case, the answer is…yes.

On Tuesday following primary election results in Alabama, where Sessions is running for his old seat against a strong challenge from former Auburn University football coach Tommy Tuberville, the president tweeted his support for Sessions’ rival.

“Tommy Tuberville (@TTuberville) is running for the U.S. Senate from the Great State of Alabama. Tommy was a terrific head football coach at Auburn University. He is a REAL LEADER who will never let MAGA/KAG, or our Country, down! Tommy will protect your Second Amendment…(which is under siege), is strong on Crime and the Border, and truly LOVES our Military and our Vets. He will be a great Senator for the people of Alabama. Coach Tommy Tuberville, a winner, has my Complete and Total Endorsement. I love Alabama!” Trump wrote in a series of tweets late Tuesday night, POLITICO noted, adding:

The endorsement of Tuberville is a major boost for the former Auburn University football coach three weeks before the primary runoff between the two Republicans. Tuberville earned the top spot in last week’s primary, narrowly edging out Sessions but falling well short of the 50 percent of the vote needed to avoid a runoff.

Whomever wins the nomination will face off against incumbent Democrat Doug Jones, who very narrowly defeated a compromised Judge Roy Moore after Sessions stepped down to become the president’s AG.

The president’s snub did not seem to phase Sessions — or, at least, he’s not showing it (since Trump is very popular in Alabama). Sessions vowed to support the president’s agenda if he wins the primary and manages to defeat Jones.

“I’m one of the architects of the Trump agenda – I’ve always supported it and always will,” Sessions wrote in a tweet Tuesday.

“Nothing the president can do will deter me from supporting this agenda, because my principles, just like my faith, are fundamental to who I am and immovable. We are Alabama. Nobody tells us how to vote or what to do.”

The president has always been sore at Sessions for recusing himself from the Russian collusion probe, which was based on fabricated narrative cooked up by the outgoing Obama regime and carried out by anti-Trump loyalists in the deep state.

So, even if Sessions manages to win back his seat — and polling in the state show that is going to be difficult because he’s down to Tuberville — it’s not clear how it’ll work out once he’s back in D.C.

We know who the president wants.
