(TNS) The White House is continuing to push back against what the administration sees as a cacophony of hype over the emerging Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, which is still very limited inside the U.S.

The latest official to hammer Democrats and their media lackeys, all of whom continue to blast President Donald Trump’s responses as inadequate — without any proof of same — was White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham.

“Right now we are telling people to act as if this is a severe flu season and wash your hands often,” Grisham said to “Fox & Friends.” “If you are elderly or have any ailments or underlying health issues, maybe don’t go to areas where there are big crowds. If you do start to feel sick stay home, don’t go to work.”

Asked (again) if the president will still continue to hold rallies, Grisham (again) said that he would.

“He plans on still holding rallies,” Grisham said. “I will tell you that with our president, this man who doesn’t sleep and who I have seen work 15, 16 hours a day every day, I have no problem thinking that he is going to be just fine and just healthy.”

As we reported Monday, the president insisted that the outbreak isn’t serious and that rallies will go ahead as planned, barring any major escalations in the number of cases.

For her part, Grisham also blasted Democrats, noting that it’s time “politicians and the media to stop using this as a tool to politicize things and to scare people. It’s not responsible. This is not the time for this.”

This is the kind of nonsense that she and the administration are dealing with:

The Daily Caller adds:

She again emphasized that people need to follow basic health instructions like washing their hands and “making responsible choices … This is absolutely not the time for trying to scare people to gain political points or make headlines.”

Grisham’s comments come as Democrats continue to criticize Trump for downplaying the dangers of the virus. The media have also published false reports on Trump’s words and actions to meet the crisis. Politico first accused the president of labeling the outbreak as a “hoax” after Trump spoke to supporters at a South Carolina rally last month.

A Checkyourfact.com fact check, determined that what in fact Trump had said was that the Democrats’ “politicization” of the issue — suggesting that he was doing nothing about the spreading disease — was the hoax.

Others have begun to notice the Democrat-mainstream media coronavirus hype nexus.

During an interview with CBS News last week, Physician David Drew Pinsky, a.k.a. “Dr. Drew,” shredded the media for purposely causing panic in the American people which negatively affects not only individuals but businesses as well.

“A bad flu season is 80,000 dead, we’ve got about 18,000 dead from influenza this year, we have a hundred from corona,” Dr. Drew stated. “Which should you be worried about, influenza or Corona? A hundred versus 18,000? It’s not a trick question. And look, everything that’s going on with the New York cleaning the subways and everyone using Clorox wipes and get your flu shot, which should be the other message, that’s good. That’s a good thing, so I have no problem with the behaviors.”

“What I have a problem with is the panic and the fact that businesses are getting destroyed, that people’s lives are being upended, not by the virus, but by the panic,” Dr. Drew added. “The panic must stop. And the press, they really somehow need to be held accountable because they are hurting people.”
