(TNS) Veteran journalist and long-time evening host of “Nightline” Ted Koppel strongly suggested in an interview this week that should President Donald Trump lose his reelection bid in November, he wouldn’t leave office.
What’s more, Koppel said in an interview with PBS’ Christiane Amanpour that tens of millions of Americans would likely support that, hinting it could become the beginning of a Nazi-like dictatorship.

Amanpour asked Koppel, “Do you think there is any way that the country gets back to what I guess you and I would call ‘the old normal’?”
“Let’s say, for the sake of argument, that whoever the Democratic candidate is defeats Donald Trump in November. Do you think he will be a gracious loser?” Koppel began.
“Do you think that he will accept defeat and reach out the hand of friendship to whoever is going to replace him? I don’t think so. Can I see Donald Trump at that point making the argument that, uh, the election was stolen? Possibility,” he continued.
“And I think there are, unfortunately, millions of people in this country today who would respond to that. Could it lead to violence? Yes, it could!” he said.
It’s not quite clear what Amanpour meant by “the old normal,” though we have our ideas. She likely means back to the way it was before Trump — when the media was able to make or break politicians and public figures at will, usually reserving their most vociferous attacks for Republicans.
And what’s wrong, as Rush Limbaugh notes, with the ‘new normals’ of a great economy, low unemployment across all demographics, lifespans increasing, better trade deals, and Americans keeping more of what they earn?
Nevertheless, it was Koppel’s assessment of Trump not leaving the White House if he loses that caught our attention, because it isn’t the president who has been working to overturn the 2016 election because he couldn’t accept the results.
Donald Trump is the guy they’re trying to throw out of office, claiming that he stole the election, claiming that he colluded with Russia, claiming that he was a traitor. It’s all been found to be baseless, and now her they are speculation, “If Trump loses, he’s not gonna leave. He’s gonna become Hitler! If Trump loses, he not gonna leave and he’s gonna accuse the election — he’s gonna accuse the whole thing of being rigged. He will not be gracious!†You know, it’s stunning. Back in the campaign of 2016 — the last debate, I think it was, Clinton and Trump.
They asked Trump (paraphrased exchange), “Will you tell us right now…?†It’s like a week or two before the election. “Will you tell us tonight that if you lose the election, that you will concede and you will go away?†And Trump said, “Hell, no. I’m not gonna tell you that tonight. I’m not gonna let you have a headline that says, ‘Trump Concedes Election in Final Debate.’†Trump was smart enough not to fall for that question, and Hillary made a big deal from that point on about how Trump is a threat to democracy.
“Why, he will not accept it if he loses! You just heard him say it. You just heard him! He will not accept losing. If he loses the election, he will not accept it,†and then look at what happened. Hillary loses, and she still hasn’t accepted it. Hillary loses and the Democrats still haven’t accepted it. Hillary loses and the Democrats are still trying to reverse it, and yet now three years later, here is Ted Koppel speculating that if Trump loses, he won’t leave.Â

The mainstream media, the deep state, and the intelligence community have all been engaged in a non-stop effort to depose President Trump since before he was inaugurated. He’s not the one having trouble accepting election results or behaving like Nazi wannabes seeking to overturn the will of the American people.
