(TNS) Following a steady rise of tensions throughout the Middle East and North Africa, President Donald Trump is reportedly considering adding additional countries to a current list of nations from which he has banned travel.

As reported by the Washington Examiner:
The Trump administration will roll out the expansion at the end of the month to coincide with the third anniversary of Trump’s original executive order, according to officials who spoke with the Associated Press. The officials did not say which countries the administration was considering or how many would be added to the ban, but the White House will likely add several of the countries that were removed from the original travel ban.
Right now, the temporary moratorium applies to Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, Venezuela, and North Korea. The ban was also supposed to apply to Iraq, Sudan, and Chad, but the Justice Department agreed to cut these countries to withstand legal scrutiny, a decision Trump disagreed with.
The Examiner is of the opinion that the president wants to expand the current travel ban because he believes it will help him politically. That’s fine to speculate, but it’s pretty cynical considering the troubles we’re having in Iran, the rising tension with Iraq, the simmering brew in Syria, and Lebanon.
Then again, polling for the first ban was positive and the president’s base of support — along with the U.S. Supreme Court — agreed with it.
That said, you may recall the hysteria from Left-wing Democrats and their sycophantic enablers in the “mainstream media” in response to the president’s original travel ban via executive order in 2017.
Since most of the countries contained “Muslim majorities,” the dishonest media made sure to adopt that descriptor in every travel ban-related story.
But in short order, the Garbage Party and their politicos began to refer to Trump’s executive action as a “Muslim ban” which, of course, is patently absurd since it did not affect more than 95 percent of the planet’s Muslim population.
It was also absurd because the president enacted it as a bona fide matter of national security. But no; in reality, since Trump “hates Hispanics” due to his presidential commitment to enforce immigration laws, he’s also a bigot who “hates Muslims.”
And just to show you that old lies never die on the Left, they just get recycled at moments of political expediency, no sooner than word got to a correspondent at The Daily Kos, Aysha Qamar, of Pakistani heritage, the “Muslim ban” lie was resurrected:
As the Trump administration plans to expand its travel ban, I fear for my roots, I fear for my family, and I fear for this country.
As the presidential election approaches, Trump is expected to once again campaign on his promises to end illegal immigration and fight terrorism in his bid for reelection. His hate toward Muslim countries, citizens, and refugees seeking asylum is vividly displayed in the policies he creates and the conversation he invokes. We can only hope that legislators, advocates, and communities will continue to stand up against his bigotry and end the possibility of another Muslim ban.
To be clear, again, President Trump never issued a blanket “Muslim ban,” although if he wanted to because he really is a bigot, he could:
Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 states: “Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.â€
But again, Trump is no bigot, he’s no racist, and he’s not “banning all Muslims.” He’s trying to protect Americans, which is his first order of business — including those who lie about his actions to stoke anger and resentment against him.
