(TNS) Stop us if you’re seen this clown show before, but don’t look now: House Intelligence Committee chair Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) claims he has ‘new evidence’ involving the impeachment case against President Donald Trump and it’s really damning.

Or something like that.

Early Wednesday there was not much coverage of it, but Schiff has sent a letter to House Judiciary Committee chair and co-impeachment conspirator Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) (see here) describing the evidence, which he says comes from Lev Parnas, an associate of presidential lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

Parna has been indicted by the Southern District of New York along with Igor Fruman on charges of conspiring to violate straw and foreign donor bans.

According to Fox News, Parnas and Fruman allegedly were “working with Giuliani to push for investigations of the Bidens. The two Florida-based businessmen were also leveraging political connections to Trump and other prominent Republicans to pursue a lucrative natural gas deal.”

Politico’s Andrew Desiderio broke the story on Tuesday evening. In the tweet below, he shares Schiff’s letter to Nadler and Parnas’ undated note to himself scribbled on a Ritz Carlton Vienna notepad. It says, “get Zalensky [sic] to Announce that the Biden case will Be Investigated. start commun[icating] with Zalensky [sic] without [Pinchuk or Kolomoisky].”

But we have no idea when the notes were actually written.

POLITICO:

The House Intelligence Committee released new evidence on Tuesday related to the impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump, including information turned over by Lev Parnas, an indicted former associate of Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani.

The release, which reflects the unfinished nature of the House’s impeachment inquiry, comes ahead of an expected House vote on Wednesday to formally send the impeachment articles to the Senate for a trial. …

The material released on Tuesday contains several handwritten notes, emails, encrypted messages, and other documents that underscore the close relationship between Parnas and Giuliani, who was actively pursuing an effort last year to push the Ukrainian government to announce investigations targeting Trump’s political rivals. The documents also complicate one of Trump’s oft-stated defenses of his actions toward Ukraine.

Now, mind you, there is no need to ‘hold a vote’ to ‘formally send’ the articles of impeachment to the Senate. That vote already happened when the House approved the two articles to begin with. Pelosi doesn’t need any additional ‘authority’ to transmit them, let alone a separate vote ‘authorizing’ their transmission.

So given that, this whole thing smells — again — like just more BS. We don’t initially trust anything that most Democrats say, and that is particularly true when Adam Schiff is involved.

As for Giuliani, as a lawyer for the president, he is perfectly within his powers to investigate on behalf of the president. The man is a former federal prosecutor himself; we’re pretty sure he knows how ‘the system’ works.
