(TNS) Rep. Tulsi Gabbard is a liberal but she’s not a Left-wing lunatic so beholden to the Democratic Party she can’t think for herself or follow her oath of office.

Part of that oath is to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, a pledge she has also regularly made as an officer (and a veteran) in the Hawaii Army National Guard.

There are many things with which Gabbard, a 2020 presidential contender, and President Donald Trump disagree (and there are many things she advocates in which we disagree). But like the president, we respect her decision to vote “present” regarding his impeachment because she felt that it was done in a hyper-partisan manner by her own party, and not according to the Constitution’s standard of “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

She’s explained her vote now on a number of occasions because she continues to be attacked by fellow Democrats for on other reason than because she failed to march lockstep with them to impeach a president who hasn’t done anything wrong except beat her party’s criminal candidate in 2016.

Gabbard doubled down on her decision and her reasoning rests mainly on the fact that the process by which Trump was impeached was hyper-partisan and that impeachment “should never come about as a culmination of a highly partisan process.”

But now another leading Democrat — the governor of her state, in fact, Neil Abercrombie — has come out and attacked her for failing to be a hyper-partisan.

Per The Hill, Abercrombie is now calling on her to resign her House seat because she had the audacity to vote “present,” rather than “Yea” on the impeachment of Trump.

Resign? Seriously?

“I feel very strongly the 2nd District of Hawaii must be fully represented,” Abercrombie, a Democrat who previously served in the House for nearly two decades, said at a press conference, according to the Honolulu Civil Beat.

Abercrombie said Gabbard should step down and allow a special election to fill her seat. Gabbard, who has served in the House since 2013, has already said that she will not seek reelection to focus on her presidential campaign.

While the Garbage Party and their media sycophants rail against Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and majority Republicans in the Senate over a “partisan” impeachment trial, they are eating one of their own because she refused to vote as a…partisan.

More evidence that Democrats couldn’t care less about ‘getting along with’ and ‘governing alongside’ Republicans, let alone the president.

All the more reason why they must be returned to the minority in 2020, lest Congress and President Trump get nothing done on behalf of the country.
