(TNS) Republicans as well as serious constitutional experts and analysts have been having a field day with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi after she declared Thursday following the House’s passage of two articles of impeachment against President Trump that she would not immediately transmit them to the Senate.
Claiming to the Garbage Party’s propaganda media — unchallenged, of course — that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky) was “rogue” and therefore couldn’t be trusted to conduct a “fair trial,” Pelosi looks silly and foolish to most thinking people.
The notion that she’s going to dictate to McConnell how he will conduct an impeachment trial is laughable but, according to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), who’s actually had experience with this sort of thing during the impeachment of Bill Clinton (Pelosi too, for that matter), Senate Republicans are fine and dandy with letting Pelosi and her Democrats “be stupid.”
In an interview Friday with Fox News, Gingrich predicted that there eventually would be a Senate impeachment trial, but that Pelosi “looks silly” in her actions.
“She can’t negotiate with McConnell,” Gingrich said. “McConnell is one of the most formidable leaders in the history of the Senate. She has no leverage whatsoever. She ends up looking foolish.”
Gingrich noted that Pelosi stunned everyone when she announced after the impeachment vote that she wasn’t going to send it over to the Senate, a process outlined specifically in the Constitution.
“So what you now have is the Democrats are playing games with impeachment, the president ignores them and wanders around getting things done and holding big rallies, and McConnell keeps getting judges approved” to the federal courts, Gingrich continued.
“At the same time [Democrats] were impeaching Trump, [the Senate] was approving 12 new federal judges,” the former Speaker added.

“McConnell’s pretty happy to let the Democrats in the House be stupid. He’s not gonna deal with them, he’s not gonna talk to them. He’s gonna say, ‘When you guys get done and you’re tired of being ridiculed, send me the impeachment.'”
