(TNS) President Trump blasted Rep. Adam Schiff on Tuesday ahead of a report the House Intelligence Committee chairman released in which he recommended — as we all knew he would — that the House move forward with an impeachment inquiry.

“I think he’s a maniac. I think Adam Schiff is a deranged human being,” the president said in London ahead of a NATO meeting, in response to a reporter’s question about the lawmaker who led two weeks’ worth of hearings that produced no evidence the president violated the Constitution or abused his power in dealing with Ukraine.
“I think he grew up with a complex for lots of reasons that are obvious,” Trump said.
“I learn nothing from Adam Schiff,” he added. “I think he’s a very sick man. And he lies. Adam Schiff made up my conversation with the president of Ukraine.”
The president’s comments — accurate as they were — came ahead of an expected report Schiff released this afternoon in which he claimed that ‘evidence exists’ implicating Trump in some crime.

“This report reflects the evidence gathered thus far by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, in coordination with the Committee on Oversight and Reform and the Committee on Foreign Affairs, as part of the House of Representatives’ impeachment inquiry into Donald J. Trump, the 45th President of the United States,” Schiff said in released in a statement attached to the report.
“The decision to move forward with an impeachment inquiry is not one we took lightly. Â Under the best of circumstances, impeachment is a wrenching process for the nation,” he added.
“I resisted calls to undertake an impeachment investigation for many months on that basis, notwithstanding the existence of presidential misconduct that I believed to be deeply unethical and damaging to our democracy. The alarming events and actions detailed in this report, however, left us with no choice but to proceed,” he said.
Whatever. The ‘evidence’ he claims was presented at his sham hearings included statements from witnesses like “I heard,” “I felt,” and “presumed.”
“At the end of a one-sided sham process, Chairman Schiff and the Democrats utterly failed to produce any evidence of wrongdoing by President Trump,” said White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham after the report was released.
“This report reflects nothing more than their frustrations. Chairman Schiff’s report reads like the ramblings of a basement blogger straining to prove something when there is evidence of nothing,” she added.
Schiff, recall, swore up and down for a year that he had “evidence” of “Trump-Russia collusion” — but of course, there wasn’t any because it never happened.
As Trump is trying to ensure America (and Europe) remain safe in the face of legitimate Russian revisionism, Schiff and Democrats undercut him.
Little wonder, then, why we call them the Garbage Party.
