(TNS) Barack Obama promised to “fundamentally transform” our country during his first campaign. As Mark Levin has often said, you really have to hate something if you want to “fundamentally transform” it because you wouldn’t do that to a system you loved and respected.

That fundamental transformation continues to this day, but on the local and statewide level since the Garbage Party’s radicals don’t control national government.

One of the ways the Democrat Left is accomplishing that goal is through so-called “progressive law enforcement” — which is a major departure from actual law enforcement.

The idea is to stop enforcing and prosecuting certain ‘quality of life’ crimes — vagrancy, homelessness, harassment, etc. — because, we’re told, doing so is ‘racist’ and ‘bigoted’ and thus ‘unfair.’

The results have been predictable: Spikes in crime and violence as police presence is diminished and people are left to their own devices.

As the Free Beacon reported Sunday, two different cities — one on the East Coast and one of the West Coast — are experiencing similar increases in crime in their mass transit systems because troublemakers are free to cause trouble:

Violent crime on San Francisco’s Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system rose by 115 percent between 2014 and 2018, culminating in three homicides within a week. New York City’s subway system, meanwhile, has seen a 10 percent increase in total crime in the last year.

The underlying causes of these crime spikes, experts tell the Washington Free Beacon, remain unclear. But the spikes cast serious doubt on the experiments in progressive prosecution and policing both cities are currently engaged in. As America’s two-decade crime decline begins to plateau, the upswing in lawlessness in these public spaces may indicate what other cities can expect if they adopt a similar approach.

You think?

It’s not just San Francisco and New York City. Other major cities around the country where Left-wing radical Democrats dominate are seeing similar spikes in crime.

The Pacific Standard notes:

Homicides increased by 58 percent in Chicago between 2015 and 2016—a sharp enough rise to elevate the homicide rate for the entire nation in that span. Early in his presidency, Donald Trump threatened to intervene if Chicago couldn’t reverse the trend of “horrible carnage.”

The cause of the spike in murders has remained uncertain. This week, a new study from two professors at the University of Utah attempts to make the case that something called the “ACLU effect” is to blame. The name refers to a 2016 agreement between the Chicago Police Department and the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois to reform unconstitutional stop-and-frisk practices. Between 2015 and 2016, street stops dropped by 82 percent in the city.

Meanwhile, back in the Big Apple, Lefty Mayor Bill DeBlasio’s war on policing has led to cops being publicly assaulted with no consequences.

In Philadelphia, the federal prosecutor is “fed up” with local DA Larry Krasner, who bought his office with the help of George Soros. He ran on campaign pledges of refusing to prosecute certain criminal activity because he claimed it was “racist,” and the results, again, have been predictable.

POLITICO (of all publications) noted in August:

Philadelphia’s top federal prosecutor on Thursday laid into the city’s district attorney, rebuking Larry Krasner for promoting what he labeled a “stunning disrespect for law enforcement” and blaming him in part for an hourslong standoff between police and an active shooter the day before.

William McSwain, whom President Donald Trump appointed as U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, lambasted Krasner in a statement and news conference, saying he was “fed up” with a “new culture of disrespect for law enforcement” in Philadelphia that he said was being “championed” by Krasner, a former civil rights lawyer. …

McSwain also accused Krasner of going easy on violent criminals, blaming what he said was a lack of “robust enforcement” and diversionary programs, along with the downgrading of charges and ignoring “entire sections of the criminal code.” McSwain contended that his office had been picking up the slack for Krasner, saying that his office had prosecuted 70 percent more violent crime cases than it did last year in response to Krasner’s “lawlessness.”

So, are Lefists simply daft? Do they just ‘not understand’ the consequences of their actions?

Always keep this in mind: The American Left seeks to sow division, mistrust, and chaos because their objective is to destroy our small ‘r’ republic and replace it with an authoritarian system of government.

You have to tear down the existing system to “fundamentally transform” the country.
