(TNS) We’re not sure, but it seems like the Garbage Party’s impeachment strategy has moved into a phase where Democrats are attempting to peel away Vice President Mike Pence’s support for President Donald Trump.

Why else would U.S. Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland testify to Adam Schiff’s committee Wednesday that he voiced “concerns” about Trump’s July phone call with the Ukrainian president to Pence…if he didn’t?
In his opening statement, Sondland claimed, “I mentioned to Vice President Pence before the meeting with the Ukrainians that I had concerns that the delay in aid had become tied to the issue of investigations.”

But Pence’s chief of staff, Marc Short, slapped that down and without any equivocation.

“Ambassador Gordon Sondland was never alone with Vice President Pence on the September 1 trip to Poland. This alleged discussion recalled by Ambassador Sondland never happened,” he said.
From Pence's CoS Mark Short:
“Ambassador Gordon Sondland was never alone with Vice President Pence on the September 1 trip to Poland. This alleged discussion recalled by Ambassador Sondland never happened."

The full official statement: “The Vice President never had a conversation with Gordon Sondland about investigating the Bidens, Burisma, or the conditional release of financial aid to Ukraine based upon potential investigations.”
Pence chief of staff flatly denies what Sondland just testified to: “The Vice President never had a conversation with Gordon Sondland about investigating the Bidens, Burisma, or the conditional release of financial aid to Ukraine based upon potential investigations." pic.twitter.com/TtZIcGhsbT

So that makes no sense…unless Sondland has some evidence that he’s going to present proving this conversation took place.
And the likelihood of that happening seems…remote.
