(TNS) Joe Biden is many things but you’ll never hear us accuse of him being sage, wise, or poignant.

Over the weekend, President Donald Trump issued pardons for Army 1st Lt. Clint Lorance and Army Green Beret Maj. Matt Golsteyn, while restoring Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher, who was acquitted in July in the killing of an ISIS fighter in Iraq, to his former rank of Master Chief.

Lorance was serving a 20-year sentence for instructing his men to shoot a pair of suspected Taliban scouts in 2012 in Afghanistan’s Kandahar Province. He had just taken command of the platoon after the prior platoon leader and a number of other troops were killed just days before.

As for Golsteyn, the decorated former Green Beret was currently facing trial for the murder of a Taliban bomb-maker in Afghanistan.

On Sunday, the 2020 Democratic presidential contender blasted President Trump for issuing the pardons and claimed that he “is not fit” to lead our men and women in uniform.

Right. But Biden is fit? And he’s a Democrat; what does he know about the “rule of law?”

Maybe President Trump would be a better commander-in-chief if he, say, released five known Taliban commanders from Guantanamo Bay in exchange for a U.S. Army deserter.

Perhaps Trump should save his pardons for U.S. Army specialists who don’t know what gender they are but know how to download gigabytes of top secret data and hand it over to Wikileaks.

Or draw phony “red lines in the sand” after the Syrian government gasses its people to death.

Or maybe fly a planeload of cash to some out-of-the-way airport in the middle of the night so he can pay off Iranian kidnappers.

While he’s at it Trump can threaten to withhold a billion dollars in cash from the Ukrainian government at the moment they are being invaded by Russia unless they agree to fire a prosecutor looking into a corrupt company employing his son.

Granted, Biden wasn’t president, Obama was, but by sticking around for eight years Biden was saying very clearly that he agreed with the boss’ foreign and military policies. And on Ukraine, he was Obama’s point man; he said so.

Plus, he’s bragged about being Obama’s wing man while on the current campaign trial.

There may be some things to dislike about President Trump, but claiming he has no moral authority to be commander-in-chief when you were Vice President to the most militarily destructive president in recent history is disgusting.
