(TNS) If you wondered how American journalism got off the rails and the “mainstream” media became nothing more than a propaganda organ for the authoritarian state, this story should help explain it.

In October, Reason Magazine’s Robby Soave reported that an activist student group demanded that the school newspaper, the Harvard Crimson, apologize for getting a quote from an Immigration and Customs Enforcement official regarding a story about…Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Once upon a time in journalism schools, this was taught as standard practice: You get quotes from relevant sources on both sides of an issue-related story.

Now, however, if one of the sources for a story is a Left-wing Garbage Party whipping boy like ICE, then it’s wrong to get their side of an issue.

Hence the demand that the paper ‘apologize.’ He wrote:

Harvard University students have started a petition denouncing the campus newspaper, The Harvard Crimson, and calling on its staff to apologize.

What did the Crimson do wrong? Absolutely nothing.

Last month, campus-affiliated protesters held an event calling for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The Crimson covered the rally, and interviewed some of its leaders. In keeping with general journalistic practice, the paper also reached out to ICE itself, seeking comment. None was given.

This action—which, again, is standard practice for journalists—has apparently infuriated the activists.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Soave is now reporting that the Harvard government is taking the side of the triggered snowflake activists:

The council’s statement does not specifically endorse the boycott. But it does express solidarity with Act on a Dream [the activist student group calling for a boycott of the Crimson], whose members want the student newspaper to apologize for seeking comment from representatives of U.S. Immigration and Customs and Enforcement in articles.

“It is necessary for the Undergraduate Council to acknowledge the concerns raised by numerous groups and students on campus over the past few weeks and to recognize the validity of their expressed fear and feelings of unsafety,” the statement said.

President Trump, along with agents and officials who work for ICE, are continually called “Nazis” by these same snowflakes. But it’s their demand that ICE be shunned, ignored, and their point of view suppressed by a media source is Nazi-like behavior.

Propaganda is the authoritarian’s best tool, for with it he/she can effortlessly shape public opinion through misinformation and outright lies.

No wonder American journalism has lost its way.

It’s being dominated and influenced by Left-wing ‘social justice warriors’ and punks at the academic level who have convinced themselves that viewpoint suppression somehow represents “democracy” and is “fair.”

The media’s job, therefore, is not to ‘inform’ the American public so we can decide for ourselves what is and isn’t right, but to tell us what to think instead.

Like Hitler’s propaganda press did in Nazi Germany.
