(NationalSentinel) The Left’s outrage machine cranked up to maximum output again earlier this week when it was reported that the Border Patrol had kept an American citizen in detention for three weeks prior to releasing him.
But as is usually the case, there is much more to the story, and a USBP official provided those details during congressional testimony this week.
Brian Hastings, Chief of Law Enforcement at the U.S. Border Patrol, told a House committee that the reason why the citizen was kept in detention for so long was that he told agents he was Mexican.
Hastings’ claim came in response to a question from Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) about the detained U.S. citizen, Francisco Erwin Galicia, during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on some of the Trump administration’s policies on the border.
“I can give you some preliminary. The individual came through the Falfurrias checkpoint. He came through with the other illegal aliens. The individual claimed to be a Mexican national who was born in Reynosa, Mexico,” Hastings said.
“Throughout the process, and while he was with Border Patrol, he claimed to be a citizen of Mexico with no immigration documents to be in or remain in the U.S.,” he added.
“Upon further investigation, we also found he had a border crossing card and that border crossing card he had used 53 times to cross the border into the U.S. which gives us further indication that he was not a U.S. citizen,” Hastings continued.
“At no time in Border Patrol custody did he say that he was a U.S. citizen.”

But of course, facts don’t matter to most Democrats, including the new face of the party, socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York. Without all the facts, she took to Twitter to denounce the Trump administration for ‘detaining Americans,’ all the while disparaging federal border and immigration agents as she has been doing for months.
“CBP is detaining *American citizens.* How would you feel trapped in a border camp, where guards wear face masks because the human odor is so strong?” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “When we allow the rights of some to be violated, the rights of all are not far behind.”
The Daily Wire reported earlier this week that, according to The Washington Post, “Francisco’s mother, a Mexican citizen living in Edinburg illegally, listed her son on a U.S. tourist visa as being born in Mexico. She also falsified information on his birth certificate.”
