(NationalSentinel) In the wake of President Donald Trump’s ‘go back where you came from’ tweets and a rally last week in North Carolina, in which many in the audience chanted, “Send her back!”, Democrats cranked up their outrage machine.
Taking cues from their allies in the establishment media, Democrats immediately began claiming that the president was making life much more dangerous for “The Squad” — Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.). As such, they would require much more protection from Capitol Police than normal.
Politico led off with this July 18 headline: “House Dems warn Omar in ‘imminent danger’ after Trump rally chants.”
“House Democrats erupted in fury Thursday over President Donald Trump’s attacks on freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar at his reelection rally, fearful that crowd chants of ‘send her back’ have personally endangered her and her family,” Politico reported.
Mind you, Omar herself told reporters that she wasn’t really concerned for her personal safety. But House Democrats couldn’t let an opportunity to further demonize the president and divide the country go, so they pretended as though she should be concerned about violence or worse.
“It’s crystal clear to me that her life is in imminent danger,” Democrat Rep. Bobby Rush of Illinois, also a senior member of the Congressional Black Caucus, said. “He has threatened the safety of a member of Congress. That takes this to a whole different level.”
“It’s bad enough that the president didn’t stop the chant last night. But he started it. It’s instilling fear, it’s going to instill violence,” Rep. Ben Ray Lujan of New Mexico, a top House Democrat, said last week.
As such, Capitol Police met with members of “The Squad” to discuss security options and to assess the actual danger/threat level facing them.
It appears, for once, Omar was right about something. Fox News reports that Capitol Police found no additional threats to the four congresswomen:
Fox News has learned that threats have not increased for them this week…
The threat assessment regarding members of the squad, who have recently clashed with President Trump, remains low compared to some other lawmakers.
One source told Fox News that even though the four had been in the news a great deal, they were still low-profile, freshman members.
Some lawmakers’ significant others are more worried about safety than the lawmakers themselves.
Indeed, as Conservative Tribune notes, there are others who believe if Capitol Police focus too much on a few members, they will miss larger threats.
Despite the lack of a heightened threat level against the Squad, that hasn’t stopped some Democrats from continuing to pretend as though is exists.
“This is an important time in this country. These are dangerous times. Every member of this House needs additional security,” Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), who forced a failed impeachment vote against President Trump last week, said.
“Leadership has adequate security. Members do not have adequate security. I want to thwart the efforts of those who might want to harm a member of this House,” he added.
If only there was a legitimate cause for concern, Rep. Green. But of course, pretending like there is makes it easy to pile on the president again, which doesn’t harm his approval numbers but does enrage rival factions of Americans who are a party to the ruse.
