(NationalSentinel) As the Trump administration continues to deal with an irate, shrill, implacable Left-wing Democrat base over the issue of immigration and, in particular, enforcing the rule of law as it pertains to immigration statutes and border security, it’s worth noting the current administration has nothing on its predecessor.

That is to say, the Obama regime was far more proactive with its immigration enforcement efforts even to the point of surpassing President Donald Trump’s administration in several instances, But you’d never know that based on the hysterical finger-pointing by Democrats and the attempt by their propaganda wing — the mainstream media — to memory hole the facts.

Obama separated families too: One of the biggest complaints by the Left — the Hollywood types, the liberal ‘immigration’ organizations, academia, Democrat pundits — centers on the fact that the Trump administration was ‘cruel’ for separating migrant children from their [alleged] parents.

Well, the Obama administration was very adept at this as well and used this policy often, as McClatchy DC reported a year ago.

“It’s been going on for many, many decades and many years,” POTUS Trump said in June 2018. “Whether it was President Bush, President Obama, President Clinton — same policies. They can’t get them changed because both sides are always fighting. …This is maybe a great chance to have a change.”

Yes, families were separated during the Trump administration. But this president ended the policy of family separation…not Obama.

Obama’s DHS put children in cages: One of the Left’s most oft-used complaints is that the Trump administration is “putting migrant children in cages,” where they’re forced to “sleep on concrete floors” using lightweight Mylar blankets. Except that the cages and the detention facilities using them were built and installed during the previous administration, as CNN documented and as Snopes, the Left-wing ‘fact-checking’ site, couldn’t deny:

Obama was called the “Deporter-in-Chief”: While Democrats and their supporters complain that the Trump administration is sending too many migrants back where they came from, denying their ‘constitutional’ and ‘civil’ rights, it is the Obama administration that holds the mantle of most deportations in recent years.

ABC News reported:

President Barack Obama has often been referred to by immigration groups as the “Deporter in Chief.”

Between 2009 and 2015 his administration has removed more than 2.5 million people through immigration orders, which doesn’t include the number of people who “self-deported” or were turned away and/or returned to their home country at the border by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

According to governmental data, the Obama administration has deported more people than any other president’s administration in history.

The Obama administration tear-gassed migrants: Again, this is documented by a Left-wing ‘fact-checking’ site

Statistics CBP emailed to show that, from fiscal years 2012 to 2018, border agents used the chemical compound 2-chlorobenzylidene malononitrile (CS), which is commonly known as tear gas, in 126 incidents. Of those, 79 occurred during the five full fiscal years under President Barack Obama. That’s a little over one incident per month from fiscal 2012 to 2016. CBP sent us annual, not monthly figures.

Border agents also regularly used pepper spray. According to, “Border agents used it in 540 incidents from fiscal years 2012 to 2018, and 434 (or 80 percent) of those were during the five full fiscal years under Obama.”

Mind you, we believe border agents should use whatever legal means necessary to protect themselves and our borders; this information is included here merely as pushback against the militant Left for claiming that the Trump administration is ‘the only one’ that has authorized tear gas use. So, too, have the administrations of Carter, Reagan, and both Bushes, reported.

Migrants die all the time attempting to cross illegally into the U.S.: Trump’s DHS has been lambasted by the likes of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) over the death of migrants who are attempting to break into the country. But migrant deaths are as common along the U.S.-Mexico border today as they’ve always been, unfortunately.

And if we’re comparing, according to Border Patrol figures, there were fewer migrant deaths during the first two years of POTUS Trump’s administration than Obama’s.

Additional facts: Migrant children were kept in unsafe, unsanitary conditions during the Obama regime as well, and for the same reason they are sometimes kept in those conditions now: Detention facilities were designed primarily for adult male border jumpers, not females, mothers, and children. In fact, in July 2015, a federal judge found the Obama administration to be in violation of the Flores Agreement, which requires the government to provide safe and sanitary conditions for immigrant minors, including food, drinking water, medical care, and other accommodations.

The Obama regime not only fought the ruling in court but continued to “detain children in deplorable and unsanitary conditions in CBP facilities in violation of the settlement and the court’s orders.” And yet…no Left-wing outrage.

It should be crystal clear by now that Democrats don’t really care about the welfare of migrants and have no interest in working with Republicans and the Trump administration to address conditions and legal loopholes that are serving as enticing magnets to hundreds of thousands of people to break our laws and violate our national sovereignty.

Rather, they simply want to politicize the issue of ‘immigration’ in general so they can use it to batter the Trump administration.

Even Obama’s former DHS secretary, Jeh Johnson, knows.
