There are few GOP freshmen lawmakers making as big an impact as retired Navy SEAL officer and wounded warrior hero Dan Crenshaw of Texas.
From taking the opportunity to appear on a “Saturday Night Live” skit to ‘refute’ — with class and humor — a tasteless joke by SNL star Pete Davidson (who apologized, also with class) to ‘schooling’ college students about war, patriotism, and fighting for America, Crenshaw has become a massive GOP asset.
During an appearance at the University of Arizona for a Turning Points USA campus event this week, Crenshaw was verbally accosted by a worked-up college kid who claimed that America’s war in Afghanistan (where Crenshaw was wounded in a blast from a roadside bomb, losing one eye and nearly the other — on his third deployment there in 2012).
But again, with class and style, Crenshaw owned the misguided youth.
When he got to the mic, the student raged that the event organizer, Turning Points, is “for Nazis,” adding that Crenshaw “should be ashamed” of his service in Afghanistan.
“It was an illegal war of aggression by the United States,” the angry male student raged — apparently never having learned that U.S. involvement there came after the 9/11 attacks, which the Taliban then in charge of Afghanistan helped to facilitate by hosting the attack’s planner, Osama bin Laden. “You should be ashamed of yourself, not proud of your service.”
As the crowd heartily booed the kid, Crenshaw eye-rolled his way into a classic response.
“If you have to call somebody a Nazi, it’s a good indicator you haven’t thought through your argument very well,” said Crenshaw. He added, “Get more creative with your insults, man.”

In his tweet, Johnson asks rhetorically, imagine “volunteering to fight for the military that beat the Nazis” and then come home to being accused of being one.
He also saved the best still from the clip.

Note, too, how this veteran SEAL — who could have kids like this for breakfast and has seen infinitely worse than this ‘drama’ — never lost his cool.
Like a true professional and warrior.
We need more Dan Crenshaws in Congress: Fearless, classy, patriotic, and American Firsters.
As for his service, per the Washington Examiner:
Crenshaw was elected to Congress last November. He joined the U.S. Navy in 2006 and served for 10 years as a Navy SEAL, including multiple deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq. He was wounded by a roadside bomb while on his third tour of Afghanistan in 2012. Crenshaw lost his right eye in the explosion, but he was able to recover eyesight in his left eye through surgery.
