Earlier this week we took the “mainstream” media to task over its blatantly dishonest claim that outgoing Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen will forever be remembered as the Trump official who “put kids in cages.”
“Kirstjen Nielsen, I think, is a great example of what happens when you go to work for Donald Trump,†CNN chief ‘legal’ toadie Jeffrey Toobin claimed over the weekend. “He is the great reputation killer. Here is this woman who was a reasonably admired bureaucrat. For the rest of her life people will look at her and think, ‘Oh, that’s the woman who put children in cages.’â€
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) joined in too.
“It is deeply alarming that the Trump Administration official who put children in cages is reportedly resigning because she is not extreme enough for the White House’s liking,†said Pelosi.
“The president’s dangerous and cruel anti-immigrant policies have only worsened the humanitarian suffering at the border and inflicted vast suffering on the families who have been torn apart,†Pelosi said.
The outgoing DHS chief repeatedly pushed back against this blatant and cosmically irresponsible lie for much of her nearly two-year tenure at the helm of DHS. In congressional hearings and on cable news programs, she said time and time again that no, Border Patrol, ICE, and Customs and Border Protection agents were not putting “kids in cages.â€
But do you know who did? That would be the Obama administration, as evidenced by 2014 photographs broadcast and reported by none other than…CNN.
Here is the photographic evidence:
Nielsen has also been saddled with the lie that she and POTUS Trump created the “family separation†policy.
“The Obama administration, the Bush administration all separated families,†she noted last year. “They absolutely did.â€
She’s absolutely right. In fact, POTUS Trump ended it after the pathetic Leftist media made an issue of it beginning last year as a means of furthering the lie that he’s a racist and a bigot.
Where did this policy come from, you ask? It was codified into law thanks to the most liberal federal circuit court in the land, the 9th, via the 2015 “Flores settlement,†which was also supported by that bastion of Left-wing legal fights, the ACLU.
This ruling created the family separation policy at the U.S.-Mexico border — not Donald Trump and Kirstjen Nielsen.
We noted that the president should use his monstrous bully pulpit to correct this record, as a service to a loyal Cabinet member now departing, and by doing so exposing the Leftist Toobin-like charlatans (again) in the establishment media.
He did that on Tuesday.
During a short press conference as he met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi at the White House, POTUS was clear and concise in correcting the media’s horrible lie:
Obama separated the children, by the way.
Just so you understand, President Obama separated the children. Those cages that were shown? I think they were very inappropriate. They were built by President Obama’s administration, not by Trump. President Obama had child separation. Take a look. The press knows it, you know it, we all know it. I’m the one that stopped it. President Obama had child separation. Now, I’ll tell you something. Once you don’t have it, that’s why you see many more people coming. They’re coming like it’s a picnic because let’s go to Disneyland. We are not looking to do it. But President Obama had the law. We changed the law.
In addition, the president lashed out at the pathetic Democrats and federal judges who are harming the country through obstruction and unconstitutional rulings, respectively, as he pushed back against the media-generated narrative that he’s “cleaning house” at DHS:
I never said I’m cleaning house. I don’t know who came up with that expression. We have a lot of great people over there. We have bad laws. We have a judge that just ruled, incredibly, that he doesn’t want people staying in Mexico. Figure that one out.
Nobody can believe these decisions we’re getting from the Ninth Circuit. It’s a disgrace. You have a Democrat Congress that’s obstructing. You talk about obstruction? The greatest obstruction anyone’s ever seen.
All they have to do is spend 20 minutes and they can fix this whole problem. We’re bucking a court system that never, ever rules for us, and we’re bucking really bad things with Congress, with the Democrats in Congress not willing to act.
POTUS Trump is working to fulfill his primary campaign pledge of securing our borders. It’s clear that there are incredible forces aligned against him in his effort.
