In a little-noticed interview last month, 2020 Democratic presidential contender Sen. Kamala Harris of California made what has to be the sickest, most hypocritical joke of her campaign thus far.
Appearing March 26 on CBS’s “This Morning†program to discuss her plan to bolster pay for teachers, Harris said, “We can judge a society I think always by the way it treats its children,” CNS News reported.
“And one of the greatest expressions of love of our children is that we invest in their education,” she added.
Noting that her plan calls for boosting teacher pay by at least $13,500 a year, she continued:
The people who are going to educate our children are our teachers. And for too long, they have been paid substandard wages and certainly not being paid their value to us as a society and to our children.
So, I am proud of our initiative that has been described as the largest federal investment in closing the teacher pay gap in history. I think that there is no question that we all know there are two groups of people who are raising our children, it’s our parents which can be grandparents, aunties and uncles and it`s our teachers. So let’s pay them their value.
Without getting into the fact that teachers bail out of education within a few years thanks to militant Left-wing Democratic policies that have turned classrooms into dens of violence and disrespect for authority, Harris’ claim that “society” is judged on the way it treats children is at once a sick hypocrisy while, on the other, a revealing truth.
It should be noted that in February Harris revealed how our society treats its children — and in particular, her garbage party — when she supported a piece of legislation that in essence would have ‘legalized’ infanticide.
Life News reported:
In an interview yesterday, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris defended abortions up to birth. The California Senator said she supports women making the decision whether or not to terminate the life of their unborn baby even if that abortion occurs just before birth.
Harris’ comments come just days after she voted with Senate Democrats to block an anti-infanticide bill that would offer medical care and treatment for babies who survive abortions.
Harris, a 2020 hopeful who voted against Republican Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse’s bill, would not say if abortion was ever immoral.
“I think it’s up to a woman to make that decision, and I will always stand by that,â€Â she told TheDCNF. “I think she needs to make that decision with her doctor, with her priest, with her spouse. I would leave that decision up to them.â€
The comments are no surprise given that Harris voted this week for infanticide and has co-sponsored a radical pro-abortion bill that would have legalized abortions for basically any reason up to birth. The so-called “Women’s Health Protection Act†was introduced in Congress in 2017, with dozens of Democrat sponsors, including Harris and presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, Beto O’Rourke, Kristen Gillibrand and Bernie Sanders.
Nicknamed the “Abortion Without Limits Until Birth Actâ€Â by pro-life groups, the bill would have invalidated nearly all state and federal abortion regulations, including waiting periods, informed consent requirements, bans on late-term abortions and sex-selection abortions and more.
Notice how when a woman wants to kill her baby up to and immediately after birth, that’s a decision that needs to be made “between her and her doctor.” But every other medical decision should be made by government bureaucrats under a “Medicare-for-all” scheme.
In any event, Harris’ sick hypocrisy really does tell us a lot about our society. Or, rather, the kind of society Democrats have built.
