Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbert may not win the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination but she may have just made the most poignant political observation of our times.
Notably, in commenting on special counsel Robert Mueller’s finding of no collusion between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russia (because it was a hoax) likely avoided a second civil war in America. She also said it is time for the extremes of both parties to come together for the good of the country.
Pretty powerful stuff.
“I strongly supported Mueller being allowed to complete his investigation and submit his findings,” Gabbard said in the statement.
“Now that Mueller has found no collusion took place, we need to set aside our partisan interests and recognize that finding the president of the United States not guilty of conspiring with a foreign power to interfere with our elections is a good thing for America,” she added.
Gabbard then said that an indictment of POTUS Trump could have led to a civil war.
“If the president of the United States had been indicted for conspiring with Russia to interfere with and affect the outcome of our elections it would have precipitated a terribly divisive crisis that could have even led to civil war,” she said.
“Now we must stand together and move beyond this divisive issue that has taken up enough of the national conversation,” she concluded.
But again, that’s because the entire premise of the investigation was faulty. A farce. A hoax. A fabrication devised by Obama’s Deep State and willing dupes in the Justice Department, FBI, intelligence community, and the establishment media.
As for Gabbard, just a few years ago she was right there with fellow Democrats singing the “impeachment” song. If the president were to ever be impeached by Democrats without their producing some real evidence to substantiate it, that, too, could likely lead to another civil war.
Still, it was refreshing to hear a 2020 Democratic candidate inject some sanity into the ongoing discussion over Mueller’s lack of collusion finding. The rest of her party has become even more unhinged, pledging to push for more investigations sans evidence — which will surely keep much of the county all spun up and on hair-trigger status.
Then again, Gabbard is an Army National Guard officer — and member of the military police — which gives her a unique perspective of the prospect of civil war.
