As some media reports note that American landowners along the U.S.-Mexico border would resist, legally, any attempt by the government under the Trump administration to appropriate a portion of their land for a future border wall or fence, one Texas rancher understands that’s just part of doing the right thing for the country.

Ruperto Escobar told Houston Fox 26 news6 he’s more than ready to give up a portion of the land his family has worked for 250 years so that POTUS Donald Trump can build the wall.

The president is “right on the money” whith is plans to security the U.S.-Mexico border with a wall, he said. “Get this done.”

Escobar said he would surrender his land for the good of the country and to help protect Americans.

“If this is going to be for the benefit of my country and for the benefit of so many families throughout this great country of ours that are suffering because of illegal drugs, a little piece of land 150 feet wide is not going to hurt anybody,” he said.

In an earlier interview in with KPRC in Houston in 2017, the Texas rancher said he is offering up his property to ensure America remains “the land of the free and the home of the brave” for anyone who comes into the U.S. legally.

“If my country needs part of my property, I’d be willing to give it up so that we can continue to be the land of the brave and the home of the free, like it always has been for immigrants from all over the world that come here seeking to be a part of this country in a legal way,” he said.

While lawmakers in DC, most from states that don’t have a problem with illegal immigrant property destruction, drug-running, and gun crimes continue to stall the president’s efforts to build a border wall, Escobar, 75, has recounted all of the dangers and risks he sees and faces almost daily on his property.

“People that get caught, vehicles full of drugs, and they speed back toward the river at a very high velocity past my house – a whole slew of police after them,” Escobar said, adding, “That happens quite often.”
