President Donald Trump took a swipe at his predecessor on Monday over the number of manufacturing jobs the U.S. economy added last year after tens of thousands of them vanished during Barack Obama’s presidency.
“Last year was the best year for American Manufacturing job growth since 1997, or 21 years. The previous administration said manufacturing will not come back to the U.S., “you would need a magic wand.†I guess I found the MAGIC WAND – and it is only getting better!” POTUS Trump tweeted.

In 2016, as the presidential race was heating up, Obama told a crowd that many manufacturing jobs that had left the country were simply not coming back while mocking then-GOP candidate Trump’s pledge to bring many of them back to the U.S.
“When somebody says like the person you just mentioned who I’m not going to advertise for, that he’s going to bring all these jobs back. Well how exectly are you going to do that? What are you going to do? There’s uh-uh no answer to it,” Obama said.
“He just says. ‘I’m going to negotiate a better deal.’ Well how? How exactly are you going to negotiate that? What magic wand do you have? And usually the answer is, he doesn’t have an answer,” Obama said.
Obama was criticized by conservatives and pro-business executives at the time for being tone-deaf to the realities of how government regulations, scores of which he added, have a negative impact on job creation and economic growth.
A major part of POTUS Trump’s pro-growth agenda has been to lower corporate taxes so that businesses would be able to bring jobs back to the U.S. while also cutting reams of red tape that adds billions per year in compliance costs.
In November, ADP Services reported the largest number of new manufacturing jobs in history – 40,000 in one month.
Also, POTUS Trump continues to add manufacturing jobs back in to the economy at an amazing rate. The total manufacturing jobs added under this president is over 430,000 in less than two years.
