Apparently tone-deaf and blind to the irony, American University in Washington, D.C., is planning on holding a writing seminar featuring a professor who has argued that the American language is racist and, therefore, the amount of work turned in is all that matters, not whether its grammatically correct.

The Feb. 1 seminar, titled, “Grading Ain’t Just Grading: Rethinking Writing Assessment Ecologies Towards Antiracist Ends,” will focus on “antiracist” grading hosted by University of Washington-Tacoma Prof. Asao Inoue, who has called American grammar a “racist,” “unjust language structure.”

Inoue, in a previously published an essay titled, “A Grade-less Writing Course that Focuses on Labor and Assessing,” argued in favor of “dispens[ing] almost completely with judgments of quality when producing course grades.”

University in Washington, D.C. is hosting an event on Feb. 1 on “antiracist” grading with a professor who serves as director of a writing center which argues that American grammar is a “racist,” “unjust language structure.”

“I argue that a productive way to design and teach a first-year writing course is to conceive of it as labor – and calculate course grades by labor completed – and dispense almost completely with judgments of quality when producing course grades,” Inoue writes in an essay summary on, Campus Reform reports.

“This is my ideal writing course, and allows me to cultivate a more critical, democratic community. It shares responsibility and negotiates most of the work in the course with students, as well as the terms by which that work is done,” he added.

“Finally, it operates from an assumption about assessing writing (in all its forms) that allows students to democratically address difference and see acts of assessing as acts of reading, critical judgment, and writing.”

In other words, this is just the latest Left-wing academic construct to allow students the freedom to fail in real life as part of some warped sense of righting past wrongs.

Inoue serves as both a professor at UW Tacoma and the director of the school’s writing center, Campus Reform noted.

A poster in the writing center claims that American grammar is a “racist,” “unjust language structure,” The Daily Caller News Foundation reported.

“Linguistic and writing research has shown clearly for many decades that there is no inherent ‘standard’ of English,” the poster says. “Language is constantly changing. These two facts make it very difficult to justify placing people in hierarchies or restricting opportunities and privileges because of the way people communicate in particular versions of English.”

In fact, while there are constantly emerging variants of English language and literature, the basics — nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, predicates, sentence structure, proper use of words, etc. — have not changed in centuries.

That’s what makes English English.

But because he’s just another Left-wing professor in another liberal academic environment who is more focused on being a social justice warrior rather than a teacher of facts and a facillitator of knowledge, Inoue is almost guaranteeing that his students will never reach their full potential.

And how, pray tell, is that ‘justice’?

The Left uses the term “racist” to describe so much activity today the word has become meaningless. After all, if everything is racist, then nothing is. – Jon Dougherty
