(National Sentinel)Â Too PC: If you needed more evidence that taxpayer-subsidized National Public Radio was just another Left-wing propaganda mill for the Democratic Party, this is it.
Producers for the upcoming Indy film, “Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer,” wanted to run an advertisement on NPR to promote the picture, which is a dramatic biopic of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, the infamous Philadelphia abortionist who was convicted on multiple counts of murder.
But NPR refused the six-figure buy because the ad copy contained the word “abortion, the Daily Beast reported, citing leaked emails.
The ad said, “Support for this NPR program comes from the film “Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer.†The film is the true story of abortionist Kermit Gosnell. A story the mainstream media tried to cover up because it reveals the truth about abortion,†the Daily Beast noted.
The Blaze reported further:
The issue? Among other minor points, the ad copy referring to Gosnell as an “abortionist†was a no-no, the Daily Beast reported, adding that NPR said the “neutral word ‘doctor’†would need to replace it.
John Sullivan, the movie’s executive producer, asked NPR if the term “abortion doctor†could be used instead of “abortionist†— but the taxpayer-funded station again said no, the Daily Beast said.
“Our movie isn’t about a podiatrist or a cardiologist or a proctologist. It’s specifically about a doctor who performs abortions,†producer Phelim McAleer told the DB, which reported further that the impasse was a “deal-breaker†for the movie’s creators.
The Daily Beast‘s Matt Lewis reported further:
When asked to comment, NPR’s Senior Director of Media Relations Isabel Lara explained, “Sponsor credits that run on NPR are required to be value neutral to comply with FCC requirements and to avoid suggesting bias in NPR’s journalism.â€
Lara sent me the modified language that was acceptable to NPR, which reads: “Hat Tip Distribution, with the film ‘Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer,’ based on the true story of Philadelphia doctor Kermit Gosnell. Out Friday.â€
What’s really maddening, as Lewis noted, is that NPR refused the ad copy though several NPR stories used it and the network’s own report on Gosnell’s conviction contained it as well.
There is no inherent political, social, or cultural ‘value’ being pushed by factually stating that Gosnell, indeed, did abortions and that he was convicted on three counts of murder “for cutting the spines of babies after botched abortions,” The New York Times reported.
So now, facts are too much for the Left to handle, even on taxpayer-funded networks? Facts are pushing ‘values?’
It’s always been that way, at least as it pertains to the Democrat-aligned ‘mainstream’ media. Even Left-leaning news network personality Kirsten Powers noted the dearth of media reportage regarding the barbaric Gosnell in 2013:
Infant beheadings. Severed baby feet in jars. A child screaming after it was delivered alive during an abortion procedure. Haven’t heard about these sickening accusations?
It’s not your fault. Since the murder trial of Pennsylvania abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell began March 18, there has been precious little coverage of the case that should be on every news show and front page. The revolting revelations of Gosnell’s former staff, who have been testifying to what they witnessed and did during late-term abortions, should shock anyone with a heart.
The trailer for the film, which opens Oct. 12 and features “Superman” star Dean Cain, is here:
