(National Sentinel)Â Cause and Effect: There were a record number of physical assaults against Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol agents in 2017, which some are attributing to the demonization of both by Left-wing Democrats.
The Washington Times reported Friday that assaults against ICE agents reached a decade-high number in 2017, while physical assaults against USBP agents have been climbing in recent years, according to federal government stats “that seem to back up agents’ claims that illegal immigrants are increasingly looking to fight rather than flee.”
The numbers, which come from the Department of Homeland Security’s inspector general, might even be understating the problem, according to investigators. That’s because Uncle Sam doesn’t do a very good job of tracking agent assaults, and agents themselves don’t always properly report them.
And then there’s the government’s failure to hold illegals accountable.
The Times reported further:
But the report does signal renewed danger particularly on the southwest border, where agents say a surge in illegal immigration in recent years generally correlates with growing violence.
Prosecutors, meanwhile, often refuse to bring charges or win cases against the perpetrators, the audit found.
At the border, the most frequent method of attack was projectiles — usually large rocks — which accounted for half of assaults. But bombs, clubs, knives, guns and even laser pointers to blind agents have all been used.
Customs and Border Protection recorded 1,089 assaults in 2010, which steadily dropped through 2014, when there were just 381 assaults. But things turned violent once again, steadily rising to 856 assaults in 2017.
Last year was the most violent this decade at the border, with 28 assaults per every 10,000 apprehensions.
And this violence doesn’t even account for violent crimes committed by illegal aliens inside the country. The Federal for American Immigration Reform estimates there are 12.5 million illegal aliens in the country.
There are a growing number of analysts who believe that the far Left’s condemnation of ICE — and Democratic politicians’ growing propensity to excuse the violence against the agency while condemning it as ‘racist’ and a ‘deportation force’ — is feeding into the violence.
In June, Fox News reported that Left-wing Occupy Wall Street published a graphic (on Twitter, no less — and no, the account hasn’t been banned like Alex Jones has just for making a CNN hack feel nervous) detailing, step-by-step, the gory murder of ICE agents.
Within days of that ‘cartoon’ being published (and since deleted), another Twitter user doxxed ICE agents, per The Western Journal:
On Tuesday, a Twitter post from a user identified as Sam Lavigne shared personal information on employees of the Immigrations [sic] and Customs Enforcement culled from LinkedIn. However, the Medium platform the user linked to has been deleted, according to Fox News.
“I’ve downloaded and made available the profiles of (almost) everyone on LinkedIn who works for ICE, 1,595 people in total. While I don’t have a precise idea of what should be done with this data set, I leave it here with the hope that researchers, journalists, and activists will find it useful,â€Â Lavgine wrote in sharing the information.
Last month, a Massachusetts man was arrested for threatening ICE agents with death:
Brandon Ziobrowski, 33, of Cambridge, Massachusetts, was arrested Thursday morning after posting on Twitter in July that he would give $500 to anyone who would kill an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent.
On July 2, he tweeted: “I am broke but I will scrounge and literally give $500 to anyone who kills an ice agent. @me seriously who else can pledge get it on this let’s make it work.”
Democrats have not widely condemned these threats and acts of violence against ICE and the USBP. In fact, many are actively campaigning on the further demonization of immigration law enforcers — some who claim to want to hold ICE agents accountable for alleged ‘crimes’ relating to the performance of their duties.
