(National Sentinel)Â Tone-Deaf:Â Without question the so-called “mainstream media” has been relentless in its coverage of POTUS Donald Trump, as evidenced by a 90-percent negativity rating — the most for any modern president.
Many news reports have been proven inaccurate. Many reports were complete BS, making them “fake news” from the get-go. Some of the biggest offenders have been CNN, The Washington Post, and The New York Times, as well as the broadcast networks.
Now, the MSM is set to prove more than a hundred million Americans why they are justified in seldom trusting what the American press tells them.
As reported by The Associated Press, dozens of newspapers are set to launch an unprecedented coordinated assault on the president of the United States, with the goal of attempting to convince all of us they’re not ‘enemies of the people’:
A Boston newspaper is proposing a coordinated editorial response from publications across the U.S. to President Donald Trump’s frequent attacks on the news media.
“We are not the enemy of the people,” said Marjorie Pritchard, deputy managing editor for the editorial page of The Boston Globe, referring to a characterization of journalists that Trump has used in the past. The president, who contends he has largely been covered unfairly by the press, also employs the term “fake news” often when describing the media.
The Globe has reached out to editorial boards nationwide to write and publish editorials on Aug. 16 denouncing what the newspaper called a “dirty war against the free press.”
As of Friday, Pritchard said about 70 outlets had committed to editorials so far, with the list expected to grow. The publications ranged from large metropolitan dailies, such as the Houston Chronicle, Minneapolis Star Tribune, Miami Herald and Denver Post, to small weekly papers with circulations as low as 4,000.
Newspaper associations and media groups are also promoting the “coordinated editorial response” — which amounts to a coordinated attack on the president.
You might be thinking, “What else is new?” And you’d be right.
The MSMÂ has been collectively attacking POTUS Trump since before he took office.
The difference now is that they’re making it official.
Will it work? Will these traffickers in fake news really convince Americans en masse that they — and POTUS — have been wrong about the establishment media all along?
As we reported, just 11 percent of Americans have any trust in MSM. 11 percent.
Why? Fake news like this fake cover showing POTUS Trump towering over a crying immigrant girl comes to mind:
Time attempted to make the claim that this little girl, in particular, had been separated from her parent at the border.Â
She hadn’t been. Time refused to recant the claim.
The profession of journalism, as it was once taught, included these principles, according to the American Press Association:
- Journalism’s first loyalty is to truth
- Its first loyalty is to all the citizens
- Its essence is a discipline of verification
- Its practitioners must maintain an independence from those they cover
- It must serve as an independent check on power
- It must provide a forum for public criticism and compromise
- It must strive to make the significant interesting and relevant
- It must keep the news comprehensive and proportional
- It’s practitioners must be allowed to exercise their personal conscience
Does a coordinated attack on the president qualify as “truth” and “loyalty to citizens?”Â
At an Aug. 2 political rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Trump told his audience that the media was “fake, fake disgusting news.”
“Whatever happened to the free press? Whatever happened to honest reporting?” the president asked, pointing to journalists covering the event. “They don’t report it. They only make up stories.”
Who can seriously deny that he’s right?
