(National Sentinel)Â USSF: The newest branch of the U.S. military, the United States Space Force, became a reality on Thursday with an announcement by Vice President Mike Pence to an audience at the Pentagon.
U.S.S.F. becomes the sixth military branch of service, the first one created since the U.S. Army Air Corps became the Air Force shortly after World War II.
“The time has come to establish the United States Space Force,” Pence announced, noting that during the last great war, America rose to meet substantial military challenges posed by Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. Part of meeting — and defeating — those two powers required adapting to the realities of modern warfare, hence the dramatic expansion of the Air Corps.
“Now the time has come to write the next great chapter in the history of our armed forces, to prepare for the next battlefield where America’s best and bravest will be called to deter and defeat a new generation of threats to our people, to our nation,†he said. “The time has come to establish the United States Space Force.â€
Pence clearly laid out not only the vision of the Space Force but also why now is precisely the time to create it.
As reported by Breitbart News:
Pence announced the release of a Pentagon report on how to implement the president’s vision. The report calls for the creation of a unified combatant command called U.S. Space Command, an elite Space Operations Force, Department of the Space Force, and an agency that will field weapons for the new Space Force known as Space Development Agency.Â
He also noted that the Space Force is our country’s response to the rising space-based threats posed to our military space infrastructure primarily by Russia and China.
“For many years, nations, from Russia and China to North Korea and Iran have pursued weapons to jam, blind and disable our navigation and communication satellites via electronic attacks from the ground. But recently, our adversaries have been working to bring new weapons of war into space itself,†he said.
“As their actions make clear, our adversaries have transformed space into a war-fighting domain already, and the United States will not shrink from this challenge. Under President Trump’s leadership we will meet it head-on,†he said.
“It is not enough to merely have an American presence in space, we must have American dominance in space,†he added.
Space Force all the way!

Though the Pentagon has taken steps to create this new branch of service, now it’s up to Congress to authorize and fund it.
“The proposal has backing from Reps. Mike Rogers (R-AL) and Jim Cooper (D-TN), the leaders of the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee,” Breitbart reported.
